Description:

Okay, I couldn't see this on here anywhere so hopefully I'm not stepping on any toes! I've just discovered 'found poetry' and I'm all set to give it a go! Basically, 'found poetry' is a poem created from a text that was never intended as a poem. For this swap, I'm keeping it simple as I'm new to this too so here goes: 1. The text must not be from fiction or a poem. It can be from a speech or even an instruction manual! 2. You can alter punctuation and create line breaks where you will. You can drop words from the text but you CANNOT add words. 3.For a clearer set of instructions than my ramblings try http://www.foundpoetry.org/blog/rules/ We'll have one partner each. You can type, write, whatever, as long as it's nicely presented. Open to all because I want everyone to join in the fun. Please don't flake, it's not cool and I will name and shame.

By the way, please add your source!

I've done found poetry in the past and I think adding words was allowed. I think I could be mistaken though.

hi, laurebel for this swap we won't be adding words, just to make it a bit more challenging. We'll just take the text and make it read like a piece of poetry, plus I was just following the rules of this particular site mentioned above as I'm new to this myself! :)

can you use like a utility letter from a company like mobile phone etc just delete words, add puncuation etc to make a poem?

Booktrollop10 06/23/2009 #

Yep, that's exactly it, Mysticsweetness, anything that was never intended as a poem!

I'm fine with not adding words. I just "think" I did in the past. I love found poetry!
