Is it ok to join if you have never made a bottlecap pincushion before?

tangledthreads 07/ 5/2009 #

You need basic handsewing and embroidering skills to make a bottlecap, they are very easy to make.

Thanks for the invite - I'm watching it, but I will probably join it later. They are such fun to make. :-)

You mention wool felt... is that the only material acceptable? Is acrylic felt discouraged? Can other fabric be used? (for the top? for the sides? for the bottom?)

tangledthreads 07/ 6/2009 #

Sender's Choice..I mentioned wool felt as that is all I have used or the ones I have bought were made from wool felt I think... will edit to take out the word 'wool'....

Please use a nice quality felt..not fond of the 4 sheets for a dollar type, don't think they will make a nice quality pincushion.

I am so happy you have joined this swap and SpinJenny, your sweet pincushions came up on my flickr search...hope you can join us!

Arrgh! I am going to be out of town for this one.

tangledthreads 07/10/2009 #

I will host more, they are so fun to make or we could do a private swap! Let me know if you are interested!

This will be my second experienced. I loved making the first one. However, I used regular cotton fabric for the top and it worked well. Sides were felt. I made them for strawberry festival at out church and sold every one. I embroideried 2009 on the side and used a black marker to make seeds on the top.

I want to thank you all for joining my swap..I hope you make a beautiful pincushion for your partner and enjoy this swap!

XO
