Description:

For this swap, you will create a Halloween recipe book. The book can be handwritten into an appropriate journal or decorated composition book, or can be handmade (bound using a Zutter or other method). It should have at least 10 pages filled (or if handmade, at least 10 sturdy pages between two chipboard covers). Please either do front and back, or 20 pages single sided. Your book should have at least 10 recipes, but you can send as many as you'd like.

Now, here's the interesting part. The recipes can be either actual food recipes with a Halloween bent, OR they can be pseudo-Halloween recipes for things you'd never actually eat. However, please DO NOT combine the two. If you would like to send both, then please divide up the book into clearly marked sections so people can easily tell which ones are for eating and which ones are for non-edible items or just for laughs.

Examples of things that you would use for real food could be "witches brew" that is really punch, "kitty litter" cake that is actually made from a cake mix, etc. Examples of things for non-real recipes could include potions, spells, poisons (please do not make these actually lethal; this is just for fun after all), etc.

Examples of a suitable book would be a Halloween decorated composition book, a Halloween decorated handmade book, etc. Or, depending on the contents of your book, even a faux leather look journal would work (if you were making a wizard's secret book or a mad scientist's notebook for instance). Basically, you can be pretty straightforward with these (as long as they meet the requirements) or you can get really creative and go all out.

Ratings of at least 4.8. No no sends in past 6 months; no 3s in past 3 months. Must have at least 7 crafty/creative swaps under your belt. Email swaps do not count, nor do non-handmade postcard swaps.

PM me with any questions or extenuating circumstances.

One important note: You could get a wide variety of things for this swap ranging from real food, to potions for lotion or non-edibles, to spells and pseudo-poisons. It is the sender's choice what type of book they want to make. Please do not ask for anything specific. If you have very strong religious leanings and would be absolutely offended by receiving a "spell" book, this is probably not the swap for you. That said, I am a Christian myself and would prefer that this not turn into a full-fledged pagan or Wicca spell book swap, although people of any religion or no religion are welcome. This is supposed to be good clean Halloween fun that all can enjoy.

can I use a photo album I love to use them for recipe books they already have the plastic covering for protection

LINBUR0100 08/24/2009 #

Justmeth81 and cllfdl, I have sent both of you responses in your message inbox. To sum up: I think it is fine to use different categories of recipes as long as you divide them into sections. And it will be fine to use a photo album as the book as long as the book obviously has some care and love put into it.

Thanks!
