Description: | |
Earlier this year I was poking around for some embroidery patterns, and nothing struck my fancy. So I drew a doodle onto my fabric and embroidered that instead. It was really fun. I'm thinking/hoping that perhaps other folks would like to give it a try? For this swap you'll have 1 partner and you'll send that partner 1 doodle of yours that you have hand-embroidered onto fabric. When finished, your doodle should be attached to cardstock or some other kind of backing, and the finished product should be at least 4 inches by 6 inches. But within these parameters it's entirely sender's choice: your doodle can be abstract or figurative; you can use any kind of embroidery stitch that you like; and the choice of palette and fabric is completely up to you. Also up to you is how you attach it to its backing: I use a zig-zaggy stitch on my sewing machine, and it's okay to use a sewing machine for attaching purposes as long as the doodle itself is hand-embroidered. (Though cross-stitch is sometimes grouped with embroidery, this swap is for embroidery on fabric not needlework on a grid. If someone wants to make a cross-stitch version, feel free!) Edited to add/clarify: This swap should be mailed in an envelope. Though it may be postcard sized, I'm afraid that it'll get ruined in the mail if you mail it as a postcard. Other details: 1) No unrated swappers for this one; sorry. 2) Swappers with a rating below 4.98 or questionable profiles will be dropped before partners are assigned. If there's something on your profile that you think would raise eyebrows, please PM me in advance. 3) This is an international swap. |
