Description:

What's a zinalogue? It's a catalogue of zines. Obviously. ;-)

I'm thinking this will work similar to a friendship book. The idea is that when the booklet(/zinalogue) you make returns to you, it will be full of links to other people's zines, which you will then be able to trade or buy. It's a great way of finding out about the different zines that are out there, that you might otherwise never know about! It's also a great way of promoting your own zine/s to people who might otherwise never stumble upon them.

How it works

  • You will make a small booklet for each of your partners. It should be no smaller than A7 (1/8th letter-size), no bigger than A6 (quarter-size). It will have a minimum of 8 pages, but you can have more if you like.

  • The front cover can be plain or decorated however you like. The back cover will include your name and address, and a note to explain how it works (you can copy & paste the following text, or write your own).

“To whoever receives this book: Please go to the next blank page, and add your address label, or business card, or promo for your latest zine, with contact details for buying or trading. Once you have completed your entry, pass the book on to a fellow zinester, who can add their own entry to follow yours. When the book is full, please return it to me, at the address below. Thank you!”

  • You will add details/contact info for your own zine/s in the first space of the booklet (this can be on the first page, if you don't want a 'cover' for your booklet, or on the second, if you have decorated the front.

  • Once your partner receives the booklet, they will add their own zine/contact details in the next space of the book. People who write in the book do not have to fill a whole page! They can use as much or as little of a page as they like to say as much as they would like to say.

  • Your partner will pass on your booklet the next time they trade or buy a zine, or they can just send it to somebody else they know who writes zines.

Rating this swap
You will rate and be rated for the ready-to-complete booklet you have sent to your partner.

Other stuff

  • You can send more than one booklet to your partner, if you like, but you by no means have to. The swap requirement is to send one booklet to your partner only.

  • It's a chance you take, but unfortunately, there is no way of guaranteeing that the booklet will eventually make its way home to you. Imagine the fun of flicking through it, though, if/when it does! Depending on how many people sign up to this swap, I will host another round about a month after the send-by date, which will allow both new and partially completed zinalogues to be passed on with less danger of going 'missing in action'.

  • Format of the booklet is up to you: you can use one of these templates for an A4 or letter-size page folded down into a mini-zine, or you can cut pages to size and staple down the spine like a traditional booklet. Just bear in mind that your booklet will be travelling for a while, and have many people flicking through it en route, so make it sturdy enough that the pages will not come loose/fall out!

Joining this swap

  • You need to have written at least 1 zine, that is available to trade or buy.

  • Ratings of 5 or just below only, and at least 5 postal swaps. I will check through participants & remove people I think are a potential risk, so please PM me to explain any unjustified comments or ratings, and I will take that into account. Please only sign up if you have both the time and inclination to fulfil the swap!
