Today I was wandering through several thrift stores (or op-shops as we call them here) and I noticed the overabundance of old records in huge stacks, sold for only a couple of cents each (really, if I see another abandoned 'Kamahl' record I might cry). Some of them have the most interesting covers with amazing old graphics and typography. So, I collected up some of the most interesting record covers I could find, with the aim to cut them into postcards, and thought that it might make a fun swap. I bought a few records today for 20 cents each, I'm sure these cheap abandoned records are everywhere. Basically, get an old record cover or two that you like the design of (hopefully ones that aren't precious to anyone anymore) and cut them up into a postcard. Write whatever you like to your partners, decorate them in whichever way you see fit - the only requirement is that you write somewhere on the card what record the cover belonged to. What you do with the actual record is up to you. I used to put old records in the oven and turn them into bowls. Of course, newbies welcome with filled out profiles :) Any questions, just ask :) |
