does it have to be a jar??

Lavender72004 10/ 9/2009 #

Yeah it has to be a jar. A 2.5 oz jar.

I'm watching for now but I had to share what my daughter and I did last weekend. We took a baby jar and covered it with polymer clay then decorated it with clay figures. For the lid I made several little circles and arranged them around to be like a roof/flower. She made hers look like a tree stump and put a clay bunny on top with vines and flowers around the jar. I baked it and then glazed it and it came out so cute! Just an idea :)

you should do another one next month. i already have too many swaps going on in Oct, and i really want to do this one! :)

I have no way of getting a baby food jar other than buying one and eating the contents myself (ick) and I don't think I am going to do that. Any suggestions?

amytheist 10/17/2009 #

Am gonna have to drop from this swap, the post office lady said I cannot mail a small jar through public post!!! waaaaaaaaaaaa I can do it though via private courier [which is gonna be bloody expensive] huhuhuhu.

Lavender72004 10/17/2009 #

I would not advise you to eat the baby food but the particular size jar only costs 58 cents at walmart.

fairymagicmail 10/18/2009 #

Yay! I bought my 55 cent baby food jar from Safeway and am ready to go. Thanks for making this available to newbies. I'm SUPER excited about this swap. : ) -fairymagicmail (p.s. Curiousity got the best of me; baby food tastes disgusting!)

Lavender72004 10/19/2009 #

Lol I have 3 kids and ive never had the curiosity to taste the baby food the smell disgust me. :)

I have just received a massively offensive message from the organiser of this swap. As soon as my current swaps are clear I will deleting my account and am notifying the administrators. I'm disgusted that such ill manners are tolerated.

Lavender72004 10/19/2009 #

@ContraryMary is just a little angry that i am protecting the participants of my swap by warning newbies what i expect before they are accepted into swaps, Recently in a swap i hosted there was a flaker and i am very determined not to let it happen again.

Does anyone have any good tips to get the glue off the jar that was left on my the label? I think I'm going to try nail polish remover.

Sunshine9905 10/29/2009 #

The best thing to do, a little late, but is to soak th ejar, wrapper in tack, in hot soapy water and it should slid off with the glue attached to the paper. That glue is a pain. I had my jars w/o lables and now, I have jars with glue that I can't get off.

Lavender72004 10/29/2009 #

I used Nail Polish remover and it took the glue and the black ink off the jar with ease..... Sorry it took so long to respond.

Sunshine9905 10/30/2009 #

Got the black ink, off, still stuck with the glue. Maybe because I don't paint my nails, but once or twice a year, maybe the remover is too old?!?!? :(

Lavender72004 10/30/2009 #

Hmmmm........

charmachine 10/30/2009 #

I got the glue off with the nail polish remover - Sunshine9905, it may be that the remover is old or maybe it is a gentle one.

Feeling smug cause I mailed off my package today!!!!
