Description:

I have been looking for a zakka pattern swap and have decided to start it my self. This swap is for all you japanese craft nerds out there (I am including myself in that...)

The idea is to copy or create a japanese craft pattern to swap with your partners. I love my Japanese craft books but they are pricey (esp in NZ dollars...) It can be dolls, journals, owls, bags...whatever!

Ideally I would like it to be sewing, felt or other fabric related patterns. If you can translate the pattern please do or any directions that you have worked out that would help the receiver, jot them down.

This is an International swap and you will have 3 partners - if there is enough interest - send 1 pattern to each (it can be the same pattern). Since you will only send a pattern it will keep postage costs down.

This swap is open to Newbies and anyone who hasn't previously been a 'no sender'.

You can also include a piece of fabric or an example of your work if you are looking for hearts.

Be sure to upload photo's and to rate your wonderful partners! Get creative and have fun with this swap - it's a total win win. Check your partners profile for help on which pattern to share.

I would love to join this but haven't one single pattern. One of these days when my sister's inlaws go back to visit family maybe I'll beg them and give them lot's of money lol to pick me up some.

Cheryl

Zakka is the term for miscellaneous items in Japan; slippers, cute phone toys, stuffies, bags, etc. Anything you like really - hope this helps!

I would prefer felt creations also interested in creations from cast- off plastic but open to any creative ideas that you find in any medium.

Does anyone else have a preference?

Where do you find these patterns? And if you have a book, how many patterns from the book would you send?

debferguson 06/25/2007 #

Brooke - the idea is to send 1 pattern to each of your 3 partners. Patterns can be found in Japanese craft books and magazines and on the internet. Or you can create your own pattern! Thanks

can't wait :)

Is it OK if they're Japanese books translated into English? I'm guessing yes...

Robin 07/ 2/2007 #

Brooke......

Where did you find Japanese books translated? Mine are strictly Japanese.

debferguson 07/ 2/2007 #

The more English the better I say....

sojourner 07/ 3/2007 #

I have English language japanese craft books.

Can I request sewing only patterns? I don't crochet or knit. But if my partner has only knit and crochet, I will take a crochet pattern. I know people who crochet and I can give it to one of them. Thanks....... Have a great day and see you around the swap-bot. Robin

The books in English are one by Aronzo Aranzi of felt critters and the other is Sock And Glove . Anyhow, I sent one patter from each to my partners.
