International. I love the look of Geisha's. Porcelain skin, highly contrasting makeup, with an alluring history. You will each have 2 partners for whom you will make 1 original ATC each (for a total of 2 ATC's) which creatively display ANY aspect of the Geisha that you find striking, powerful, or enchanting. You are encouraged to use multiple textures & colours to really accent what you find most alluring about them. Geisha are as visually complex as their personalities were trained to be, so it would be extremely unfair to limit these ATC's to 1 dimensional, flat cards lacking adornments. Feel free to use kanji, rice papers, or any other authentic items/symbolism if you wish, but please do not merely print out and cut an image to size for your partner. This swap is for detailed work, not that which rivals a digital ATC with no depth or effort. Use the standard ATC size (you can email me for a pdf template if you need it). Please aim for hearts in your creativity and desire to show others a new perspective that only you see! These were remarkable, highly skilled women who (to some are viewed as prostitutes, improperly) command a lot of respect and admiration. For some of you, their history is unexplored and you might think this swap may not be for you - Hogwash! It would be a great service to yourself to spend a little time in doing so. Here's a jumpstart to help you learn a little that might make you want to dive head first into this thought provoking, creative swap... You can also go to google and use the search terms "Geisha", "Geisha History" etc. I'd love to see a lot of participants and the many perspectives that could come out of this. (Please remember to photograph your work before mailing, that may be the last time you see it and will surely want to share it with others at some point! I know I would love to see them all!) Noobs welcome if you have a 4.8 rating by sign up deadline, and zero no-sends. If you have any no-sends, you may not join. |
