There are many Christmas card swaps but I could not find a swap for those of us that celebrate Winter Solstice and/or Yule. Winter Solstice will be on December 21 this year at 17:47. It is the shortest day and longest night of the year. Many who celebrate Yule do so on the Winter Solstice, and there are some that celebrate Yule for 12 days beginning on the Solstice. Winter Solstice means many different things to different people, lands and religions so I will leave that up to you as to what facet of the Solstice you wish to show when you make or buy a card for your partner. I think this is a great way for you to share your solstice traditions with someone else. At my house it is the day that we put the bird feeders back out, among other things. You are welcome to send a handmade card, as it is difficult to find Solstice/Yule cards in just your regular stores though there are many different online places you can buy them such as: wintersolsticecards.net faeriecards.com zazzle.com rossettidesigns.com and many more, perhaps even off ebay, though I haven't checked there yet. There are so many really gorgeous cards out there, in my opinion they are much prettier than the normal Christmas cards one receives and sends. You'll have 3 partners. If you have any questions please let me know. No recent 1's or 3's, if you have any please PM me to explain. I will ban if necessary. Also, newbies welcome with a filled out profile. We were all newbies once, so I welcome them in the swap - but remember the simple rule: don't flake! |
