There are many Christmas card swaps but what about those of us that celebrate Winter Solstice and/or Yule? Winter Solstice will be on December 21 this year at 17:47. It is the shortest day and longest night of the year. Many who celebrate Yule do so on the Winter Solstice, and there are some that celebrate Yule for 12 days beginning on the Solstice. Winter Solstice means many different things to different people, lands and religions so I will leave that up to you as to what facet of the Solstice you wish to show when you make or buy a card for your partner. I think this is a great way for you to share your solstice traditions with someone else. At my house it is the day that we put the bird feeders back out, among other things so one idea would be to make a card with birds. You are welcome to send a handmade card or postcard, as it is difficult to find Solstice/Yule cards in just your regular stores though there are many different online places you can buy them such as: wintersolsticecards.net faeriecards.com zazzle.com rossettidesigns.com etsy.com You'll have 5 partners if enough people sign up. If you have any questions please let me know. Also if anyone wants to do any private swaps with me if they don't get me as a partner for a Winter Solstice postcard, get in touch, I'd LOVE to! |
