C is for Coasters!

Another letter in our alphabet swaps! I thought it would be fun to do a handmade coaster swap. Any medium is welcome...you can quilt, sew, collage, whatever you creative folks can think of! Just remember, this is a coaster, so it should be flat and water resistant. You need to make a minimum of 4 coasters, a set or all individual! You will have one partner to send your coasters to. Come on and let's see what we can do!

The sign up date is before Christmas, but the send date will be later so you have time to work on your coasters after the busy holiday season! These are not profile based, necessarily, so you could start now if you were so inclined!

I have my idea down I just want to make sure it qualifies for "water resistant". Can anyone tell me what that would be, to make it water resistant? I have never made coasters before. Would just fabric work?

Fabric definitely works! I've made fabric ones before and they work great!

Great, thanks! I can't wait to start on these!

For anyone who knits .....

You can also find crotch patterns on this site.

I won't be doing this for my swap, because of shipping costs, but I have also used slate for coasters. Cut the slate down to size and put family pictures on the slate with mod podge. They came out really cool. Very much like the link above using tiles.
