WTZ – W(riters) T(rading) Z(ine)
Okay, so we all know what an ATC is (if not, click here). Well, it occurred to me that, on the whole, mini-zines also tend to be traded rather than sold (although of course, there are exceptions), so why not combine the concepts? I have created the WTZ especially for those people whose art expresses itself in the medium of writing.

So for this swap you will create a WTZ. In size, this will be 1/8th of a standard sheet of copier/printer paper (A4 in the UK & other countries, letter-size in USA), with a minimum of 8 pages (including front & back). You can fold a 'traditional' mini-zine, or you can staple/stitch bind a mini-zine of the same size. You can use whatever type of paper you like.

Every ATC includes basic information about the artwork/artist, so on either the front or back (your choice) of the WTZ, you will include similar information. Please provide at least a Title (even if the title is[Untitled]!), your name (can be real name, SB user name, or another pseudonym), and date. You can include any other notes you feel are relevant.

Within the pages of the WTZ, you can include whatever additional content you choose. You could:

  • make a catalogue of your other zines
  • use as a sampler with an extract from one of your other zines
  • write a short story
  • include a brief autobiography
  • talk about the inspiration for your writing
  • provide writing prompts for your readers to try out

etc etc – your WTZ can be entirely text, or combined with illustrations: the content is entirely up to you.

Requirements

  • You will have 3 partners and send each partner 1 WTZ.
  • Each WTZ will be 1/8th letter-size/A4 & a minimum of 8 pages.

The obvious bit
You already had to have a rating of 4.9+ with no recent no-sends, 1s or 3s to join this group anyway, so the same stands for this swap. But I will still double-check before assigning partners, so if you have what you feel is an unfair comment or rating, just PM me & we can try to work it out. :-)

Stupid question #!: (I have never made a zine... so just want to have it clear...)... the "cover"... would I make this more like the cover of a book? Or would this be a poem, or piece of writing I have done... or does it matter which?

Well, the rule with zines is pretty much that there are no rules, so you can either make your cover like the cover a book, or include a poem, or (as suggested above) the WTZ 'artist' details as you would with the reverse of an ATC, or anything else you like :-).

So long as the size is 1/8th letter-size with min. 8 pages, you can make your WTZ however you like. But if you've never made a mini-zine before, you might find these instructions & templates helpful :-).
