Description:

Traditionally, May baskets and cones are filled with flowers or sweets and then left on the door steps and door knobs of neighbors to celebrate the coming of spring.

For this swap, you will make a basket or cone and fill it with at least:

  • 1 flower that you have made. It can be made of anything you would like.
  • 1 sweet or snack. Please check your partners profile for likes and dislikes. If they don't care for sweets, feel free to add a non-sugary snack. (In my case, since my daughter is diabetic, sweets are never a good idea to send to me.)
  • 1 little surprise of some sort that your partner would like.

Of course, you can fill the basket with flowers and layer it with a little surprise and a sweet, or vice versa, but those are the minimum requirements.

You can find a lot of examples of May baskets and cones if you search for the term in google. There are also a lot of patterns for making them!

Have fun!

Until this swap I had never heard of a May basket.

They're fun! I leave them on neighbors doors on May 1st. Except the Demon Spawn aren't getting a May Basket. ::angelic::

I've always wanted to do May Day baskets, but we have a lot of jerky neighbors. I'm super excited to do this swap! :-)

May 1st is my son's birthday. :-) Around here, no one does a May Day basket. But we did them during my early childhood in Minnesota, such good memories!
