Check out this page to see the interesting days we can celebrate together in April. The original idea for this swap was from @craftygirl who hosts something similar monthly in the open swap forum. She has kindly given us permission to use and alter it. :) However, if you have participated in the last three swaps... pay attention! We are changing it up a bit for April Fool's Day. (Alhough, it has nothing to do with a practical joke!) For this swap you will choose at least 3 of the unique holidays listed at the above site, and figure out something to send your partner to help celebrate those days. You may choose DAYS or your gift may represent the WEEK or MONTH holidays (you will understand when you see the site) At least one of the items must be "literary" in nature (which may be simple to apply to School Librarian Day or Library Week!). It does not necessarily need to be a book (although it could be), but something related to books...book plates, a bookmark, pages from a dictionary (if your partner likes to craft with them), even a journal, etc. Your gifts cannot ALL be one category, such as stickers or cards... and while one item could potentially apply to more than one day, each item must represent only one holiday in your final tally. **** Here is the change**** This month, the package MUST fit in a (fairly) flat 6x9 envelope. (It can be bumpy... these rules are flexible! But the idea is a slimmer package, not a box) If it will mess up one of your articles to fold it, go ahead and use the larger 8x10 size (or whatever it is, 9x12?). But, think "slim". (You can not be rated down for exceeding the size limits, it's just a game. We are having fun here. I can't imagine mine will fit in a 6x9 but I am going to try!! :) HOWEVER (here's where it gets interesting) the challenge is to try to send something for as many of the days as possible, ALL fitting within the envelope. Make it a diverse and interesting parcel, something really fun to open. It doesn't need to cost a lot of money. You can find plenty of fun things that are inexpensive or even handmade. Think flat...stationery is great... but there are limitless options, if you are creative... a comb, deck of playing cards, pack of gum, slim journal, old key, piece of jewelry, postcard, foreign money, a sketch, a cd, a Scrabble tile...I could go on forever, but you get the idea. Once you receive your package I'd love to hear how many holidays everyone fits into their package. I won't put a minimum cost on here. It may cost you very little, or you might want to spend more. But it WILL take thought and organization on your part to make it special. The key is make it a package you would love to receive, something that will really make your partner smile. So... one partner, one package, at least 3 items which represent three unique holidays. (at least one of those will be somehow book-related), all Items fitting in a 6x9 (or larger) envelope (padded or not, as you see fit), and challenging yourself to also fit in EXTRA days. (good luck!!... only three are required to receive a five rating, the extras are a challenge to yourself just to see how many can be worked into such a small package!) And don't forget to include a little note telling why you chose each item (what day they represent), the swap name, and your swap-bot ID. Got it? Next month's swap will be back to normal! |
