I've been thinking really hard about what to do for my first group based swap for this group. We have some really awesome monthly themed swaps planned this year. The goal of this group is to produce and swap ART - but what is Art? What does it mean to you to be an artist? What inspires you? If mentoring another, what inspiration would you give that person? How would you communicate that inspiration through a work of art? For this swap your task is to send your partner one collage or multi-media piece on one small/mini-canvas. These tiny canvases are available in virtually any art store. The collage or multi-media piece needs to communicate your concept of what art is to you and/or provide art inspiration for your partner. Think of this as something you would keep on your desk, in your studio, by your bedside - somewhere close to you - for inspiration. Definitely make this a work of art that you are sharing with another. You should review your partner's profile for guidance on likes and dislikes - but in the end you are the mentor guiding the mentee - so the work should represent you as well. Mini-Canvases are available in many different sizes. I have seen them as small as 2" x 2". Your piece should be no larger than 5" x 5". (This should keep postage down.) You can use traditional canvas or the canvas board. Recipients SHOULD post what they receive on our Flickr site so we can all be inspired by eachother. Prepare to be inspired! |
