Description:

This swap has got it all! Postcard, ATC, writing, creativity, and eavesdropping! Most of all, it’s about community! In celebration of my friend gearing up to write a book about Coffee Adventures and how coffee brings people together, we’ve designed this swap to incorporate elements she’s found researching numerous specialty coffee shops across the United States! The “send by” date coincides with the last day of her fundraising on Kickstarter to fund her budget to go into full production of the Coffee Adventures project. That’s why the timeline is so short!

There are 5 components to this scavenger hunt swap. You will have one partner. You may find yourself drinking much caffeine to get everything done on this tight schedule!!! Glad to help with another reason to drink a cup of joe!

Here’s what you’ll be getting together:

  1. Postcard – can be purchased or made and must have some sort of coffee theme. Can include a note for your partner, or can be sent nude for recipient to use later. Sender’s choice.

  2. Overheard, Coffee Talk Snippets – next time you are visiting your favorite coffee place, take a moment to listen in on the voices around you. Any interesting conversations going on? Jot down a phrase that catches your attention… maybe on your coffee cup sleeve, then send it along to your partner! Sender’s choice to include the context or not!

  3. Coffee Filter Lesson – get a coffee filter, probably an unused one ;) and write a lesson learned for your swap partner. It could be something you learned about the quality of coffee, or how not to set the timer on your coffee maker without filling it with water, or how one should never trust a coffee drinker who only drinks decaf… (this is just an example wink)

  4. Coffee Conversation – see if you can strike up a conversation with someone in the coffee shop you haven’t spoken with before. Even if it’s just commenting on the weather. The second option for this challenge is to find out the name of your barista if you don’t know already!!! Share your experience of the conversation via a note to your partner or a photograph you take of the coffee shop or barista.

  5. The Last Drop, Inspirational Words - on an ATC (with images coffee related, of course!) for those times you're partner may be down to the last drop of motivation. An ATC (art trading card) by definition is 3.5”x2.5” and can be any medium of art. Create an ATC with an inspirational message for your partner, something of quality you’d be pleased to receive.

So, there are your 5 items to create for your one partner. Since this is a quick turn-around swap and the focus is on coffee, please get started with your items when you sign up, I’m expecting less need to see specific preferences on your partner’s profile. But when partners are matched up, please do take a moment to get to know each other!

  • Please no 1's in the last 3 months, I’ll check profiles before assigning partners
  • Newbies are welcome if they drop me a line
  • This is an international swap as these items should be able to fit in a large envelope and not cost too much in shipping

I’ll be around to answer any questions or clarify any items! Happy swapping!!!

This sounds like the perfect swap to get involved into before leaving for university again! :) Can't wait to get started!

Very nice swap! Fun elements. You might get more people to join if you consider giving a bit more time to get everything together.

Cool idea, but not enough time for me.

thanks for the timeline feedback! I'll keep an eye on participation via the caffeinate-caffeinate-caffeinate model of getting it done, and see where we are in a couple days. others - if a significant amount of you request a longer timeline, I'll push it out. thanks!

I would be more comfortable with at least a week....my local runs a weekly special on Mondays which is my day of indulgence on my budget :) cool idea for a swap though!

great swap idea and would like to join but fearful there isn't enough turn around time...some people work to many long hrs in a four day work week. Will watch it though.
