Description:

I was inspired by "callhimalaska's" self-portrait swap, so this is my spin on it.

You will create a self-portrait on paper, be it an atc, notecard, cardstock, whatever. Size should be no smaller than an atc and no larger than a sheet of paper (8.5" x 11") Use any medium such as watercolor, chalks, cray-pas, gel pens, altered art, embellishments, whatever suits your fancy.

Just some ideas: -look at your partner's profile and maybe create it in their favorite color combinations. -maybe create your self-portrait in the style of your favorite artist (add some mono-brows Frida-style, or cubist like Picasso, andy warhol-ish even??) -can be silly or serious -cartoonish or realistic -can be head-only or full-body self-portrait -no nudity, please. let's keep this clean :)

Since we'll all hopefully be putting a lot of creativity in this, we'll keep the swap to 1 partner Most importantly, just have fun!!

since postage should be relatively inexpensive with paper, let's make this International friendly swappers only with a rating of 4.7 or higher no no-sends serious newbies welcome with at least 1 swap under their belt

this is my first swap hosting, so please be kind :)

I changed the signup date and sent by date by adding 4 extra days. I'll be out of town and might not access to a computer, and wouldn't be able to assign swap partners on Aug.2nd. Hope this doesn't inconvenience anybody ;0 well, at least you'll have a few extra days to make your self-portrait extra snazzy ;)

Just checking in to see if anyone has been working on their portraits :) I will start today. I hope everyone will add their work to the photo gallery because it would be great to see what everyone did. Have a wonderful week.

okay, I finally finished my self-portrait. I don't know if it looks exactly like me, but I'm pretty happy with it. Hope you like it, Pardner, it's on its way! :)

I worked on mine yesterday and am almost done. It was harder than I thought but was great to be challenged like this. I will post a picture later. Please post pictures of your projects so we can all admire the projects. Its interesting how people with an assignment have different visions.

I would love to post my self-portrait, but i can't find the attachment that plugs from my camera into my computer! :( If I find it in the next day or two, I'll post. I hope some of you do too b/c I'm sure everyone would like to see the portraits. Linda: I'm glad that you were challenged and that you had fun with this swap!

Figured out how to upload woohoo but cant make the picture small enough to fit the screen. Hope everyone else posts pictures. I did mine on watercolor paper. I painted all the values in black and white then added glazing medium to my acrylics and painted the colors. Had fun trying a new technique (grisaille which the dutch masters or ? used and thought I could try it).

Hugs, Linda
