Description:

Who wants to get a one of a kind fabric postcard? The requirements are easy. You make one and receive one. The fabric postcard needs to measure 4 x 6 inches at the time of mailing. The front can be any design or amount of stitching that you wish to do. The back needs to be a light colored fabric like muslin or heavy card stock so that you can easily see the address and information. There needs to be a middle layer. You can use batting, however you are going to need to make the back stiff like heavy card stock so that it will go through the mail with out getting torn up. Some people put cardboard in the middle. I like to use Pellon Peltex. It is stiff and makes a very nice stabilizer. You can find this at most fabric stores. I have even bought it at Wal-Mart. Please write your partner a cheerful message. Make sure that you write the word postcard on the back. I use a permanent black pen to write on the back of the ones I send.

You can mail these to someone in the USA with a first class stamp. Internationally I would put it in an envelope. It usually costs about 98 cents to mail. You can put them in an envelope if you want to. I recommend sending them in envelopes. Sometimes the machines at the post office leave black ink on them.

Send something you would like to receive. You must have a rating of 4.8 or better to participate. If you are a newbie please have a completed profile for me to read. I will then decide if you can participate. No flakers please. Open to international participants.

You can find instructions on my website on how to make these. Go to the link above or to http://postypals.blogspot.com

Are preprinted postcard fabric cards allowed? Or do we have to create our own?

camelsamba 04/30/2010 #

judee0624, i'm not sure i've ever seen a preprinted fabric postcard! I've always interpreted these as create your own, but I'm not the swap coordinator so I don't know how much my opinion counts!

I wonder if you could embellish a preprinted fabric card. You could add beads or embroidery or layer other fabrics on the preprint. Make it your own, so to speak. But I am not the swap coordinator either. @judee0624 you should ask her in a private message.

I vote we make this swap every 3 weeks lol It takes forever to get the next one going lol

Sorry I didn't see the question until just now. I have never seen a pre-printed one. Where do you find such a thing? I would like to see one. Well I think we should keep this swap to using one that is made. Now if you want to fancy it up that would be okay. Iron on patches or glue neat stuff to it.

Okay Craft Lover I say you make a ton of them and stock pile them. LOL.

Craftlover10101 04/30/2010 #

Craftlover10101, maybe there could be two monthly fabric postcard swaps, fabricmom's that run from 1st to last day, and a new series (yours?) that runs 15th to 15th... :^)

fabricmom 05/ 1/2010 #

Great idea....run with that Heather.

Craftlover10101 05/ 2/2010 #
