This is the 2nd go around for this swap. We had some pretty cool ones last time. In the photo above, I used liquid watercolors and made it the background. I took this from the book Artist Trading Card Workshop by Bernie Berlin. She used watercolor, but I have used alcohol inks as well (as seen here ). I keep unscented baby wipes handy for cleaning. Set a clean babywipe on a piece of scrap paper, then put that on something like wax paper, palette paper, etc so it doesn't leak. Squirt on a liquid medium of some sort, alcohol inks, liquid water colors, anything colored liquid (experiment!) on the baby wipe (unscented is best). Separate the baby wipe and scrap paper and let them dry (if you don't separate them, they will stick together). Save the scrap paper which has now absorbed the colors and use it for a background too. Glue the dry baby wipe to a ATC card and trim around with fine point scissors. Build on your background and make a unique ATC! Any media or embellishments are fine to use. I used a quilted baby wipe, make sure you don't mind the quilted background, or get plain ones. OR, you can do as my partner did in the last swap, tear the babywipe into sections and use it for a 3D effect. One ATC for one partner. |
