Description:

I love making gifts for my loved ones for the holidays, but sometimes I get stuck for ideas.

I thought it would be fun to swap ideas for homemade gifts- just give descriptions, or a weblink, or a thorough tutorial. Help someone with a difficult person on their list, or give some encouragement and a easy project for someone wanting to learn a new craft, help someone figure out that detail that would add an extra touch.

  • Three partners

  • Ideas to be swap via email

  • International

  • Give at least 3 ideas... more detail and information would be appreciated, but the minimum will be just to give 3 ideas to your partners.

  • Comment in the Discussion Area if you would like specific help from your partner (example: "What can I make for my 70yr. grandfather?" "What universal sort of thing can I make to give out to my office mates" "What would a Star Wars fanatic love?" "I just learned how to embroider, what gift ideas are out there using embroidery" etc.)

I'm open to all kinds of ideas, except for knitting and crocheting (I'm a bit hopeless there).

I do have a fussy stepmom that is extremely difficult to buy for, make for, pick anything out for, so any novel, unique sort of ideas are welcomed to try out on her.

I prefer to make items that will be used, rather than just looked at or as decor.

Alright, people I have trouble with: 18 year old male cousin- not a noticeably big fan of anything in particular, but is rather into rap; fancy ideas for my chocoholic office mate (beyond just fancy chocolate); my father, who somehow guesses every present before he opens it (I really want something to surprise him!); and those last-minute drop-ins- some small, universal, preferably handmade gift.

Im always stuck on what to get my husband. we normally dont buy gifts for each other, we just buy for kids and other family members. Our christmas is every day of the year, but I would like to make/give him something special. Just no clue what!

This is a good idea! The hardest people to give gifts for are always men :) I need ideas for my husband (he's a techie/geek and collects dimes) and my dad (who has never used a present I've gotten him in the past. Help!)

I have such a huge family and usually just buy things willy-nilly that have no real meaning behind them. This year I am wanting to handmake all the gifts. I quilt, sew, knit, crochet, and paint. None of those I do very well except for quilting. I do not have time to make 35 quilts before Christmas. I also love to cook. I am needing ideas for an 83 year old man with Alzheimers and dementia, and also will have a newborn grandson who will be in the hospital recovering from 2 open heart surgeries by Christmas. I have 8 nieces in age from 2-20. I have 5 nephews in age from 12-21. 3 brothers along with their wives, parents, in-laws, best friends (male and female), and co-workers (mostly men (fire department)). Of course hubby would like something special since he is spoiled already. I suppose I could add rubber stamping and scrapbooking to my list of attributes.

Let's try that again. Hopefully the host will delete the previous post.

For my husband's family we make about 15 identical gift sets. I'm always looking for new ideas for that. Last year we did handmade candles and purchased ornaments presented in a hand decorated bag. We've made recipe jar sets and cookie sets in the past.

For the team I supervise at work there are 2 males and 4 females. I was thinking of making earrings for the females but then wouldn't know what to make for the males. Last year I made them all snowman jar candles in jars like these.

I am always looking for great ideas for my mom. Last year I made a two layer turquoise necklace. I have a brother who is into cars, is in the military reserves, and is in college. I don't think I've ever made a gift for him but this year I'd like to make all my gifts. I have a second brother who never wants anything or gets anyone anything. So those neat gifts that are not actually gifts would be great. I done a box full of love in the past, would love some other ideas.

I do paper crafts, crochet some, and make candles. I don't sew a lot, but I have a great machine with a bunch of decorative stitches and would be OK with sewing something that's makable by a novice. Check my profiles for additional detail about some of my crafts.

I am always looking for quick, smallish things to make for presents. I have lot's of small boys and girls to get presents for, they are aged between 3 and 9. Anything for men who have everything. Especially my brother-in-law, who is a Classical Music Professor, who reads and takes photos. Any stocking filler type presents for men and women. I knit mostly and sew a bit, but any ideas (not crochet, can't do that)in any medium. thank you

I am looking for any kind of crafts that I can easily learn that maybe can be done anywhere, not just sitting at home. The hardest ones for me are my nephews who are 29 and 32, besides the usual shirt, jeans, gift card, etc. Thanks. Plus anything you think is interesting would be great for anyone.

I am really looking for help for 2 gifts. One if for my dad. He is a 52 yr. old pastor who loves to hunt. The other, and this is the difficult one, is for my students. I teach about 70 high school kids and I want to do something small for them. It has to be low cost and good for all sorts of students. Any help would be appreciated.
