RAK= Random Act of Kindness Ok so a few months ago I started volunteering with the Salvation Army Food Bank, it's not first time working with the Salvation Army (I usually do christmas fundraising) but it's my first with food bank and apparently they often run low of food during the summer so for this swap I want you to make a hamper. The hamper must include (these are stuff they generally give to everyone): soup, can meat (tuna, salmon, ham etc) mac and cheese, spaghetti noodles, spaghetti sauce or can tomatoes, beans (one of each but you can include multiples of each if you'd like). Estimate cost $5-$10 if you bought 1 of each maybe more if you live some place expensive. You may added (you don't have to add this stuff but if you want to add more. This is generally what a family gets in addition to the stuff listed above); peanut butter, apple juice, school snacks, juice boxes, pancake mix, syrup, cake mix, cereal, can noodles (like chef boyarde) If you'd like you can add extras like cookies, crackers, pop, coffee tea, shampoo, etc You could add some cans with pop tops for the peeps without can openers. After you've finished making your hamper take a photo of it, send the photo to your partner along with a letter about what you donated and anything else you'd like to talk about. Hopefully your partner will reply. You could make suggestion about other RAKs you could do, perhaps you and your RAK penpal could come up with plans "Hey, RAK, I'm doing a charity fundraiser. Could you help me advertise?" something live that. And then ofcourse you have to delivery to hamper to a food bank (doesn't matter which one) Don't eat it! It's not a RAK if you eat it yourself. I'm going to trust you to do you RAKly duties. So to fullfill the swap you need to send your partner a photo of a hamper containing at least the items listed in the first list (which you will give to a food bank) and a penpal letter to your partner about the hamper and other RAK things. Since there's not much to loss or gain in this swap. I don't know why anyone would join with intention to flake, so they could go "Hooray, I scammed someone out of a photo of groceries" That would be silly. So I'm going to leave this open to everyone and if do end up getting flaked it's really not a total lose, you still have the RAK you sent to to talk to, and you can talk to the other participants who are really RAKs (feel free to use the comments for discussion if you'd like) and you still know that your hamper made it to the food bank. Maybe we can do this monthly with a different RAK idea each time. |
