This is a swap for handmade soap. You can see a good description and some nice examples here: www.realhandmadesoap.com. You will have one swap partner, and send them 2 different bars of handmade soap. A typical bar is about 4 ounces. The soap should be scented in some way (with essential oils) and could possibly contain additives (such as ground loofah, seeds or clay), and it would be nice to contact your swap partner and see if they have any allergies. Ideally you would make the soap yourself, but it may be bought if you do not have any experience in this area. Craft fairs are a great place to buy handmade soap. I have also seen large blocks of soap at Whole Foods, where you can cut a slice for purchase. If you do make the soap yourself or purchase it unlabeled, please put it in some nice packaging. If possible, list the ingredients used in the soap. If you are interested in starting to make soaps, this is a great online resource: www.millersoap.com. And this is a book that gives a good scientific overview of the soap making process: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0873418328/sr=8-6/qid=1155230007/ref=pdbbs6/104-5395356-5683152?ie=UTF8 I prefer to not include melt and pour soaps in this swap, because those are soaps made from a pre-bought base. Standard disclaimer: If you have a poor swap history, you are subject to being dropped from this swap. |
