20 profile surprises

Launch gallery slideshow

Swap Coordinator:iggygirl (contact)
Swap categories: Random Items  Challenges
Number of people in swap:14
Location:International
Type:Type 2: Flat mail
Last day to signup/drop:June 30, 2010
Date items must be sent by:July 31, 2010
Number of swap partners:20
Description:

Thought this would be an interesting challenge. You have up to 20 partners (if less then 20 sign up then that means you'll be sending to all other participants) and to each you will send a small profile surprise in a 1 stamp envelope (it okay to go over 1 stamp don't rate down your partner based on how many stamps they used, just base your rating on what is inside the envie). For example you could send tea bag(s), bookmark, postcard, photographs, recipes, stickers etc just as long as the item matches their profile. Include a small note stating swap name, your username and why you sent what you did. They said they liked dogs so you sent a photo of your dog, they like tea so you sent 2 tea bags, they like to read so you sent a bookmark, they like to cook so you send a recipe etc.

You have a full month to send out all the envies but please don't hit send until every envie is in the mail. I'd suggest mailing them all at the same time so one doesn't get overlooked.

Requirements: Must have been on swap-bot at least 1 month with at least 20 type 2 and/or type 3 swaps completed. 4.9 or higher rating no recent 1's or 3's Must have a well filled out profile with a wishlist and likes list. :)

I'll be watching for now but i think perhaps 20 is a few too many for me. Great idea though! :-)

junieandj 06/20/2010 #

Watching as well 20 seems to much, I think I would get confused. Love the idea though, kinda like everyone one a winner take all. Would be great fun to receive,

eclecticsw 06/20/2010 #

Yeah, what a great swap idea. However, 20 is a lot. Maybe 10 would be a more reasonable number? With 20 people, and it being international, there are more chances that something might get lost in the mail. I'll watch this swap, though.....

KatarinaNavane 06/20/2010 #

Too many for me but I like the idea. I'd suggest requiring a well-filled-out profile though, it'd be very hard to find a profile surprise for someone who hardly said anything on their profiles!

Lieve 06/20/2010 #

Oooh... this is something for me!

Muna 06/20/2010 #

I agree with @eclecticsw

toothteri 06/20/2010 #

I would love to join as well but 20 is a lot- Sending just a letter to the US from Canada is $1.00 and international is $1.70 so a little out of my budget.

mamacrafter 06/20/2010 #

I will join if 10 or less. Too much postage for 20 people.

gothgirl 06/20/2010 #

I'll join this as soon as I get my ratings back up. What a great swap idea!!

onecellinthesea 06/20/2010 #

I like the swap idea, surprises are fun! Though I agree with others about 20 swap partners being too much, the postage would be too much for me x

crochetjunkie 06/20/2010 #

**YOU KNOW WHAT? IF 20 IS TOO MUCH, THEN START A SIMILAR SWAP WITH THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE YOU WANT TO SEND TO. **

She made this swap because she wanted to do it this way. If you don't like it, why do you have to leave a comment bitching about it?

If only one person signs up then the swap is successful in my opinion.

crochetjunkie 06/20/2010 #

IF YOU THINK 20 PARTNERS IS TOO MUCH, MAKE A SIMILAR SWAP WITH THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE YOU WANT TO SEND TO.

rumblegirl 06/20/2010 #

crochetjunkie, I don't think people were bitching. Most of them were complimentary of the swap and were just giving some feedback.

iggygirl 06/20/2010 #

The 20 is part of the challenge so I wont change it. Keep in mind that it'll only be 20 if more than 20 sign up if less do then it's just a swap where you send to everyone. You can start your own and link it here for advertisement though. There really isn't much that's unique about this swap aside from the large partner number.

iggygirl 06/20/2010 #

@KatarinaNavane good point on the well filled out profile I'll add it thanks.

Lieve 06/21/2010 #

I don't see the problem either. Why would this be too much...? It's like doing 20 small swaps at the same time (a LOT of people do and can do 20 small swaps), but then all together in ONE swap... It's even less confusing!!! It's great :-^D

watchmespinning 06/21/2010 #

I agree with what most everyone else said about the number of partners/postage costs. It seems like a good swap idea though :) If you make one with less partners I'd join!

smokeandmirrors 06/21/2010 #

@iggygirl i do hope you haven't taken all of our comments as complaints/bitchiness etc. I can't speak for the other swappers who have commented but i was complementing you on the swap. I think it is a fantastic idea and would be great to receive but the cost for me at this stage was just too high. As you said, the high amount of swap partners is exactly what makes this swap unique and i don't think any of us would want you to change that! :-) Definitely something i would participate in at a later stage (when i have less current swaps/finances were better etc.) if you were to host again. So i wish you good luck and i will still be watching just in case it turns out i can participate! :-D Thanks!

iggygirl 06/21/2010 #

someone has posted a 10 partner u.s. region version http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/65357

If others want to host other region only versions go ahead.

@Smokeandmirrors it's all good.

iggygirl 06/21/2010 #

@Lieve That's what I was thinking. I want more surprises in my mailboxes, it's no fun when it is empty but I don't want to sign up for a ton of the same type of swap.

onlyincambodia 06/21/2010 #

Here is another similar swap with only 5 partners:

5 Profile Surprises

It's also international.

onlyincambodia 06/21/2010 #

Here's one with only 1 partner, is international, and open to Newbies:

Profile surprise swap

hosted by @Jacquisking

DarbyFlats 06/21/2010 #

Hey! Awesomely stupendous. I SO wanted to do this, but people complained about the number of partners in my postcard uber swaps, lol. I'm in! :)

VerkaCZ 06/26/2010 #

I dont know if sending all 20 at the same time is a good suggestion, I had a swap where I sent to 3 partners, I sent it at the same time and none of the arrived, while stuff sent other days mostly arrived fast and without problem. You never know when postal service will loose a bunch of mail or some thief will take it.

iggygirl 06/28/2010 #

I send out large quantities of mail all the time and have had no problem what so ever. Lots of people do. But do whatever suits your situation just make sure you keep track of what's sent and what's not.

provadia 06/29/2010 #

Awesome swap! It's also a great way to receive some cool stamps on the envies:)

Carolinev237 06/29/2010 #

Hi I hope you do this one again as I am up to my swap limit atm so can't join boo!! Good luck with it x

DarbyFlats 08/ 4/2010 #

All swaps are going out today. Thank you for your patience with me!

Lexidh 08/12/2010 #

All swaps have reached me now! Yay =) The first from #2 has also arrived, can't wait for the rest!

DarbyFlats 08/12/2010 #

I have received all of my swaps. What a fantastic idea. I can't wait for round three (since I bowed out of #2!) :)
