Description:

Note: I look at swappers who are signing up on a daily basis. If they look like they don't meet requirements or need ratings explained I message them before partners are assigned. Once the sign up date has passed I go back through one last time and ban anyone that I feel does not meet requirements, has not returned my PMs, or who I think might flake. With permission and a great amount of faith from @darbyflats I will be hosting the Broke Folks swaps! #6 & #7 went extremely well with 100% participation.

PLEASE READ the ENTIRE description before joining.

This swap is intended to control postage costs, with people who understand that we can't turn every swap into a package that costs $5 to send (not to mention the content value!)

Choose items that your partner would like based on their profile that fit in an envelope and use only one stamp (44 cents).

GET AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN TO ONE OUNCE!!

If you receive a package of any kind, using one stamp, you MUST rate a 5. This means that even if you don't receive something off of your Wish List, a 5 is still an appropriate rating.

How creative can you be with a one ounce weight limit, lol!? :)

The best part about this swap is it gives you lots of goodies to look forward to when your mail person arrives. AND it's inexpensive to send!

*No unexplained ones or threes in your ratings.

You must have a wish list that includes lightweight, flat items.

*All newbies welcome with filled out profiles. Please go to mine if you need an example.

*Please ask any questions BEFORE you sign up for the swap.

*I have the right to ban participants. I will check every profile. If you feel I might ban you, please send me a message so we can talk about it. I HATE banning people, but I will so my participants feel safe!

DUE TO RECENT REQUESTS: Please note that the point of this swap is to get a much as you can into a one-stamp envie. One postcard is not enough. Try to get it as close to one full ounce as you can, without going over and requiring another stamp! Please send me a message if you have any questions.

Wow ... a swap after my own heart!

What if you accidentally go over the weight limit and have to use a second stamp.....do you get marked down for that? I don't know how good I am at knowing what is or isn't less than one ounce ;)

DarbyFlats 07/ 2/2010 #

@angeldiva .. NO, you will NOT be rated down for going over. That rule was eliminated due to popular demand! :) I hope this helps.

Thanks ms. darby! - Right, you won't get marked down. I've even managed to go over, and I realized I'd rather send something that someone will like instead of freaking out and removing stuff at the PO. I sent some horrible envies by accident and had to do a re-send because I felt so awful about it!

Yes, this sounds like a wonderful idea! Depending on how it works, maybe we would do 2-stamp or 3-stamp swaps as well. I haven't quite figured out the new postage regulations, but it seems that small flat envelopes that weigh up to 3.5 oz. go for $.95.

Partners have been assigned. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know!

Epic. Fail. Envelopes must be less than .25 inches thick in addition to less than 1 oz. to post for .44.

This was fun to do. I felt like a treasure hunter, prowling my house to find things that my partners would like, and that fit into an envelope for .44.

adobe 07/18/2010 #

Oh no! One of my partners sent a thick envelope and it has arrived 78 cents postage due! Oh well. Their heart was in the right place. I won't mark them down. But in the future maybe participants can be made aware of this easy boo-boo to make. :>|

Postage rates are more complicated than they used to be--more expensive if they are too thick, too thin, too cute, too ugly--has to do with how they are machined.

mzkfiend 07/19/2010 #

you can get postage scales for like two or three dollars from a head shop. or "adult store". I think you can buy them at UPS, Kinkos, etc.

I just joined recently and haven't added to my profile or yet signed up for a swap and I've gotten like five envelopes already. Did I miss something? And so all who have sent me something know I will be sending you a return gift here in a few short days. I'm on a definite time crunch and I want to send you something creative. Thank you again for the welcome in.

I think of almost anything as being potential material for crafting, but Is a Safeway receipt really appropriate for this kind of swap?
