Description:

In this swap you will make a set of blank mini cards and envelopes your partners can use for future swaps. The cards should be measured 2"x2" (or 5x5cm) and the envelopes should be made to fit the cards. The cards and envelopes must be handmade - they can't be store bought. You must make 4 cards and 4 envelopes for 1 partner. The theme of the cards is sender's choice but you can check out your partner's profile for ideas. The cards do not need to match each other but you can repeat a design if you like.

This swap is only for swappers with ratings of 4.5 or higher, no exceptions. You must have a filled out profile and have sent at least 5 packages or flat mail, no exceptions. I will check all profiles on the sign up deadline and will ban if these requirements are not met. Hopefully this doesn't happen, but in the case of a flaker, please let me know if you would like to angel. If no angels are found, I will angel - but please don't flake, it defeats the purpose of swap-bot!

Have fun with this project, be creative! Some ideas for cards: -make them out of your partner's favorite colors -make a collage of things your partner likes -use your partner's initials to make a monogram -use a material your partner likes & -match the theme to your partner's favorite crafts (if they like sewing, you can use sewing imagery. If they like beading, glue some on. If they like vintage, add something vintage.)

Thanks for joining my swap, feel free to message me with any questions.

p.s. I know there are 5 cards, not 4, in the picture. I made them in a different swap last year. It was the only picture I have of mini cards!

I have done similar swaps, and I love making and recieving these, I can't wait!

MommyKnows 07/ 8/2010 #

you want the cards to be blank as far as sentiment, correct?

oliviarrow 07/ 9/2010 #

Hi MommyKnows, yes please make the cards blank so your partner can use them later. Ringfrog, I'm glad you can't wait! ;)

Oops, I misspelled rinfrog...sorry!

Is that size carved in stone? I love doing shaped cards and envelopes- sizes vary because of the shapes.

I'm having fun doing this, and wondering if anyone has some construction suggestions. I tend to glue a plain paper to a decorative one for this type of thing, then score the outside before folding, but I still sometimes get a bumpy fold on the inside. Any ideas for glue/laminating? How do others do this?

Minniemack, I didn't see your comment until now, I'm sorry! For future card making I suggest using a double thick base for the card so that the inside stays flat. Or, when working on the face of the card, put something tough behind it like a rubber cutting board. Does that help? Sorry I was too late in replying to help you with this particular swap.
