Ramadan (the Muslim holy month) begins in just a couple of weeks. I haven't seen very many (actually none) swaps for Islamic holidays, so I thought it was about time that someone starts one. This will be for an Eid as-Fitr card for the end of Ramadan. You can either send a homemade or store-bought Eid card (if you can find one) or a postcard with Eid greetings, or if you wish a short note with two Ramadan/Eid themed ATCs to your partner. Please write Eid greetings to your partner in the card or postcard; do not leave them blank. Edited--your greetings can be in your native language, especially if there is a traditional Eid greeting in your culture. If you choose to write in your native language, please include a translation of your message. You do not have to be Muslim to participate in this swap (I'm not Muslim myself; I just have a healthy respect for Islam, and many many Muslim friends. Last year it was difficult to find Eid cards, so I ended up making my own). However, DO NOT participate in this swap if you plan to use it as a vessel for a message of hate toward anyone or any culture or religion. This is an opportunity to learn about another culture (if you're not Muslim) or celebrate your own (if you are). You can goggle traditional Eid greetings and use them for the message in handmade cards, postcards, ATCs, etc. For more information about Eid al-Fitr and Ramadan, please visit this page: http://www.factmonster.com/spot/ramadan1.html This swap is open to everyone since there is not a high dollar amount. (newbies please have a completed profile; those with ratings lower than 4.5 message me in advance) Also, it is international since you will only have one partner and shipping will be minimal. I am setting the swap date for one week before the end of Ramadan in the hopes that you will get your card to your partner by October 11 in time for Eid. There is a short turnaround time from the sign up to swap date (one week) so you can go ahead and get your card ready in advance so you can send it asap once you have your partner's name. I will try to angel this swap so if you are hesitant to sign up due to the swap being open to everyone, don't be; you will receive a card one way or another. |
