Description:

A tote bag is something everyone of us can use. When you go shopping for craft supplies or swap items, take letters and packages to and from the post office, go to the library for books and magazines... you know what I mean :-)

In this swap you have one partner. You sew her (or him) a tote bag and decorate it somehow. It could be embroidery, beads, ribbons, quilting, textile marker drawings, anything you can think of. Please see your partner's profile for ideas about colors and/or themes. Otherwise it's up to you how you want to make it. No need to buy anything new, you can use materials you already have. You can use any reasonably durable fabric and other materials. If there is any specific information the new owner would need about washing or ironing the bag you should include it on a note to go with the bag. It would be ideal if the bag could be easily folded and would go nicely into your handbag or pocket.

There are some tutorials with pictures on the internet so try searching for them if you're unsure of how to sew a tote bag.

To join you need to:

  • have at least five type 3 swaps completed and rated
  • have no unexplained/unresolved 3's and 1's (PM me if you have anything to explain)
  • promise to send before the time is out (by Monday the 9th of August)
  • promise to rate your partner

If you notice there's a known late-sender, flaker or non-rater on the participant list please inform me! This is my first public swap to host so I appreciate any help with making this a good swap for everyone.

I totally can't sew but would love to join this swap. What about a store bought plain diy canvas tote that we decorate up ourselves might that work?? I love to try my hand at screenprinting but can't sew a lick. ):

@scrapwithstyle I thought of that option but I think it would be a bit unfair or at least you'd have to put double effort on the decoration if you don't sew. It would be like joining a decorated handmade envie swap and using store-bought envelopes and decorating them. Besides, I made this an Europe only swap (a postage and time thing, sorry!) and you seem to be from the USA. Maybe next time then? :-) Thank you for your interest anyway!

Oh sorry I didn't even see that part- but thank you for addressing my questions- would you mind if I start a decorated tote swap sometime that would include store-bought totes u decorate? if not that's Ok I'm not even sure how to host yet thanks!! ♥

Of course you can start that kind of a swap, I've got nothing against it. I might even join it!
