Aren't hats great? They are the ultimate cool weather fashion item - right out there on top of your head for all to see. And they are useful too, lest you lose all that lovely body heat out the top of your noggin. They are quick to make, since they're so small and relatively simple - or you could go wild and add all kinds of cool features (I saw one with holes for pigtails!). They look great on all ages, genders, races, and species (except, maybe, fish). And there are so many ways to make a hat - knit, crochet, sew, surely others... This swap is for handmade hats - just in time for the nippy weather to get going (at least in the northern hemisphere - sorry my Aussie/Kiwi friends!). Here are the rules: 1: This is an international swap. Hats are pretty light, shipping shouldn't be too bad. 2: You'll have one partner, to whom you should send one hat. 3: If you have a preference of type of hat (adult vs. child, male vs. female, human vs. nonhuman [yes my dog wore hats]), materials needs (i.e., if you're allergic to wool), and a color preference, please make that clear in the comments. Do this early - if you have a preference but don't note it before your partner makes your hat it's your problem. 4: I like to get a note with my swaps explaining why the item was made for me. Please include such a thing - but no need for goodies unless you're just one of those people who can't send a package without tea bags inside it. 5: Newbies with a completely filled out profile are welcome - I do ban but will send email first requesting info. 6: Oldbies (?) with a less than 4.5 rating and recent no-sends will be banned. If you see someone sign up who has stiffed you/someone you know, please alert me and I will take care of it. I also reserve the right to ban you if you haven't got a filled out profile, even if you have 100 hearts. It's just not fair to the newbies to force them to be so open and yet let the rest of us slide. 7: Signups end September 7th; mailby date is October 19th (6 weeks). I send lots of reminder emails, but if you're not going to be able to stick to the schedule don't sign up. 8: Got a great (free) hat pattern? Post it in the comments! I personally love the listings at Knitting Pattern Central and Crochet Pattern Central for knit and crochet hats, respectively, but you may have alternate sources. Questions? Leave a comment or pm me. |
