Description:

This swap is for a blank journal and supplies to alter a journal. I’m just starting to get into Altered Journals so if you are new to them, this is the place to start! Altered Journals are unique and fun to make. You take a regular journal and then funk it out anyway you want! Some people load up the pages with their artistic stylings, while others use it as a journal to write their thought in, but embellish the crap out of it! Google Image search to get a better idea.

The Skinny:

  1. Buy or make a journal for your partner that has at least 10 pages and has sturdy cardstock quality paper (regular paper doesn’t hold up well with paint and dark markers). The journal should be left blank for your partner to alter
  2. Include10 items used to alter a journal. Please try to round up a good assortment of supplies. Here are some examples: colored pencils, paint (water color, acrylic etc.), paint brushes, embellishments, tags, markers, a funky magazine to cut out pictures (please include the whole magazine, not just ripped out pages), exacto knife, stencils, glue, mini envelopes, collage worthy images, rubber stamps, ink pads etc. (note a pack of 10 colored pencils counts as only 1 item not 10).
  3. This is sender’s choice, but of course looking at your partner’s profile is always encouraged. I’ll be weeding out anyone with a sketchy profile (incomplete profiles, bad ratings, no-sends etc.) so hopefully we can have a good swap!

Is there a minimum size the journal has to be? (like 4x6 or something) Also, what about pieces of fabric, fibers, ribbon or foreign book pages?

The journal shouldn't be smaller than 6x6 and it should have a minimum of 10 pages. fabric, fibers, brads, flowers etc are all fair game. Anything can be used (even vintage pieces like old letters, game pieces etc.) as long as it's in good condition and not ripped or dirty. Whatever you think would inspire your partner!
