Description: | |
Dia de los Muertos is celebrated in Mexico on November 2nd as a time to Pray and remember dead family and friends. A celebration of the loved ones that have passed on. I have always loved this Mexican Holiday and the first time I visited Mexico was during "El Dia de los Infantes" (Nov. 1st) and "El Dia de los Difuntos" (Nov. 2nd) weekend. I was completely mesmerized by the colors, the parties and all the food! So let us have our own little Dia de Los Muertos celebration. For this swap you will send 1 handmade postcard depicting the holiday to your partner. You can use any medium or style, just be creative and send something you would like to receive. Need ideas? Type in Dia de los muertos in Google and you will get lots of images. You will also send your partner one candle. It can be handmade or store bought. No fragrance please, unless your partner does not mind it. Please do not send just a white candle, this culture is one of color and the holiday is just as vibrant. One of the more popular candles in Latin America are the tall ones with the picture of the Saints painted on the jar, that you can buy in Latin grocery stores for really cheap. This is senders choice, so while the sign up date is not until September 14, you can start your postcard whenever you want, so you have enough time to complete this swap before the October 14 mail date. |
