Description:

My 7-year-old is just beginning to sew, and is eager to share! I know that many of you have kids, grandkids, or neighbourhood children whom you are teaching to sew - wouldn't a little swap of their work be nice?

For this swap:

  • seamstresses should be new at their trade ... someone with more experience mightn't really love the early work of their peers

  • age isn't important - people start at all different ages

  • one beginner project should be made & sent to the partner

  • the NFS member will ensure that the swap item is sent, or be willing to angel - we don't want disappointed kids!

What to Make?

I first thought I should make it standard, but really, half the fun of sewing is choosing a project, choosing the fabric, etc. So I'll leave it in the hands of the capable NFS overseer for each little sewer (sewist?) to choose an appropriate project. Keep in mind the gender & age of the recipient.

I will be recommending to my girl something like:
* a gift bag
* a crayon roll
* grocery bag storage caddy
* coaster
* drink can wrap

The projects need not be on a grand scale - for someone just starting out, completing a project that's pretty & functional is fabulous!

So gather those kids, let's give them a fun swap to participate in, where they can show their sewing pride!
