Description:

Edited to change largest tag size to include the manila shipping tags (size #8) that Tim Holtz uses for his tag creations. (In case you would like to use them too :)

These are great fun! It is an opportunity for scrappers, stampers, mini album makers, and artists to show off some of their techniques and skills - or to try new ones.

I got this idea from Louise at her My Huckleberry Finn blog. She hosted some international decorated tag swaps earlier this year on her blog. I'm just continuing it here!

There are lots of ideas, suggestions and techniques on the internet. Just do a web search, or better yet, check out YouTube. Search "Tim Holtz" on YouTube for some great ideas.

Here are the rules:

Dimensions: No smaller than 2.5" x 4" (6.5cm x 10cm) or larger than 3-1/8" x 6-1/4" (shipping tag - size #8, approximately 7.5cm x 15cm).

You will make one tag per swap partner for a total of 3 tags.

Reinforce the tag with a lightweight chipboard, or the like, to keep it from bending in transit.

Participants MUST use at LEAST 3 art techniques or mediums on their tag. I don't mind glued images, but if that is all that is done the recipient is left with little more than a piece of cardboard - literally. You can paint, stain, draw, stamp, age (tear, stain edges, etc.), embellish with 3D objects, decoupage, wet/dry emboss, splatter paint/ink, blend inks/stains, etc. Check out the huge library of ideas on YouTube (caution: YouTube does have some very adult content - the craft videos are typically obvious. Just be aware when clicking to view.)

To distinguish this from the "SKINNY" (3" x 5" decorated card) that is exchanged here on swap-bot, add a hole to the top of the tag (if there is not one already) and add some kind of fibers or chain. Small charm(s) is (are) nice but optional.

On the back, please sign your tag. Also note the month and year of creation, the name of your tag (if you've named it) and where you are from (city, state/province, country).

Participants have almost the whole month of October to make and send their tags. Please put your time and effort into creating a piece of art your recipient will treasure.

This is an international swap, so please be aware that shipping costs may reflect that - if your package is going overseas. If your partner is overseas, please allow time to receive your swap. Some swaps may take as long as a month to get to their destination.

No recent or unexplained 1's or 3's. Newbies are welcome with well filled out profiles. Please e-mail me with any questions. If you are willing to make an extra tag to angel - just in case, please let me know. I don't believe the artists who join this will flake, but it is nice to have back-up if needed.

I reserve the right to edit this swap up until 48 hours before partner assignment. Please check to see if any changes are made. I do not anticipate making any major changes.

Thanks for checking out this swap - I hope you join us!
