Description:

I love to make altered Altoid tins and fill them full of little goodies! I hope to make this a series for each season. This is how it will work:

  • Sign up for this fun swap
  • List four winter themed tins you would like to recieve in the comments section below
  • Wait until partners are assigned then go pick which tin you want to make for your partner
  • Alter your tin with whatever you want then stuff it with items along the same theme.
  • Mail it out to your new friend

The rule to follow is that you must list four themes which you associate with winter. I'm thinking snow, peppermints, hot chocolate, Santa, gingerbread man, The Grinch, holly, ice skating, you get the idea.... Right?

I'm making this USA/Canada for postage reasons and strapped holiday cash.

There are some good examples on Craftster so check those out. You can use anything you like to decorate these! I use fimo a lot but you can use paper, paint, material, etc. I'll try looking for some tutorials as well.

I love the idea, but do you know of any good tutorials for altering these tins? I don't want to mess it up if I join, lol. Any links or tutorials would be appreciated. Thanks!

I wish for a:

hot cocoa themed tin. snowflakes themed tin (no snowmen, please! They scare me!) old fashioned Christmas themed tin. winter in the woods(trees, etc.) themed tin. I don't really think there is a way to "mess this up"! As long as my tin doesn't have any scary snowmen on it I'm good!

How do you get those nice "dots" before each listing? My comment didn't come out looking anything like I wanted it to!

You put a dash/hyphen, then a space, then your list item. Or an asterisk will work too, but you must put a space after it. =)

I would opt for basic blue/white color combo, & since I see a lot of sparkly/shiny/glittery ornaments I think Glitter should be a theme, lol. Holiday baking & preparing of all types of decorative candy/cookies/ cupcakes so a Fun Food theme ( would carry over to a cookie/cupcake theme with holiday embellishing) and my personal fave, lol, big ol' comfy sweaters & wool mittens :) ( more of a textile type theme I guess) Is there such a thing as holiday ninjas?
