I did a search for a similar swap, but didn't find one, so here goes. If I've stolen your idea let me know, just please don't send out the dogs! :-) As an avid Alice in Wonderland fan, I decided it was time to celebrate my un-birthday. Well, we should celebrate yours, too! It's well overdue! "What in blazes is an unbirthday?" You might ask.. ~An unbirthday (originally written un-birthday) is an event that can be celebrated on any day that is not the person's birthday. It is a neologism coined by Lewis Carroll in his Through the Looking-Glass, giving rise to "The Unbirthday Song" in the 1951 Disney animated feature film Alice in Wonderland. In Through the Looking-Glass, Humpty Dumpty is wearing a cravat (which Alice at first mistakes for a belt) which he says was given to him as an "un-birthday present" by the White King and Queen. He then has Alice calculate the number of unbirthdays in a year. In the film Alice in Wonderland, Alice stumbles upon the Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the Dormouse having an unbirthday party and singing "The Unbirthday Song" (music and lyrics by Sammy Fain and Bob Hilliard). Alice at first doesn't realize what an unbirthday is; when the Mad Hatter explains it to her, she realizes it is her unbirthday as well, and receives an unbirthday cake from the Mad Hatter. The scene from the film combines the idea of an unbirthday introduced in Through the Looking -Glass with the "Mad Tea Party" described in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.~ Time to celebrate! Send each one of your 3 partners a (1) Happy Un-birthday card! (I know these might be hard to find, so a splendiferous birthday card with an "un-" written next to "birthday" should suffice.) Nicely handmade cards are welcome. It does NOT have to specifically be an Alice in Wonderland themed card unless you are fortunate enough to have some! Extras welcome but not a requirement. Please send something fun, and/or cheery, and/or colorful, and/or glittery, (okay, I'm sure you catch my drift!) 1 card to each partner. 3 partners. Happy Un-birthday written somewhere on the card, happy cheerful cards! You must have a 4.95 or better rating. No recent late sends or no sends. You must have logged in to swap-bot 24 hours prior to the sign -up deadline or you will be removed from the swap. No flakers please! Image from Profile Kiss |
