Description:

OK, time for me to host my first ever swap :) This is a swap for those of you who love to learn, research, plan and then create all based around a most deserved pagan theme.

The Moon is humanity's oldest calendar. Evidence of ancient peoples keeping time by the phases of the moon have been found carved into rocks and cave walls the world over. The famous tree calendar of the Celts was such a time-keeping device, and, like other tribal cultures, the Celts found names and associations for their moon which were developed and codified over many years of ritual and experimentation. Each moon phase was assigned a corresponding tree, each tree being sacred to either feminine energy and to the Goddess, or to masculine energy and to the God. Today the counting of the Celtic tree calendar begins with the full moon nearest Yule so let us start with that moon too. This is the Birch Moon, the moon of beginning.

For this swap you are going to send your partner a chunky book page. This needs to be on thick cardstock or several thinner pieces stuck together. The size is to be 6" x 6" and you can decorate it however you wish based on the theme for this swap (but it must include 3D aspects too). This will be the first in a series of 13, one for each of the 13 Celtic moons.
By the end of the series you will end up with a beautiful chunky book, full of information and wonderful artwork so make it your best work ladies and gents. You need to make sure that on one side of the page is your representation of the Birch Moon theme, and to make it a bit more interesting on the reverse you should include one of the following, a spell, a recipe, some Celtic tree astrological information or something else similar which is particularly associated with that moon. Please leave any hole punching to your partner, as this leaves them free to bind it how they please, but remember that any chunky embellishments (on either) side should be an inch away from the left hand side. Any media is accepted fro this but please make it good quality work and NO sticker slapping, or I'll have to unleash my heard of rather hungry trolls.

So to recap all the information, you are sending:

1 6" square chunky book page to 1 partner. 1 side will have your representaion of the Birch Moon. The other side will be decorated with your choice, but based on the Birch moon theme. Chunky embellishment must be included Sticker slappers will be excluded from future swaps and will be eaten by my trolls.

Have fun, if I have left anything out don't hesitate to contact me. I'm still learning and this is my first time hosting a swap so be nice. :)))

oh, about how thick should the page be? i've put about 6 pieces of cardstock togetheer and it seems sturdy, but do you want it like 1/2 inch thick? or 3/4 inch?

Keaniebean 03/20/2011 #

@glittergothgirl I think that sounds like plenty, it will need to be bound at some point and will be 13 pages in all so I would say no thicker than what you have already made it. Glad you joined, I really hope you enjoy the swap. i have found the chunky book pages to be quite addictive!
