Welcome to my another swap :))

Do you like fantasy literature? RPG games? Writting letters? This is a perfect swap for you!

For this swap, you'll have to create your own world - draw a map (nothing spectacular, just take a pencil and let your imagination draw) and write your partner's a letter as if you were a fantasy world character! For example - a mage's apprentice, a rogue in a crowded place, a dwarf in a dark mine or maybe an elf in a marvellous elven city? It's all up to you. Maybe it'll be a beggining to a nice friendship?!

You'll have 3 partners. It's up to you if you'll create 3 different worlds and write 3 different letters or if you'll send the same stuff to all 3 partners.

So - do you like the idea? Will you join?

(Any questions? - Ask!)

Aleksis (btw. it is my character's name ;D)

Wow, this is an amazing idea! This swap sounds like so much fun and seems like the perfect way to wake up the presently-stagnant writer who's camping out in the back of my mind... Thanks!

Would we be writing as, for example, Leander the mage's apprentice to Jane Doe in California, or Leander to his master? Either way, this sounds like so much fun!

Aleksis 03/27/2011 #

I wouldn't advice the sender to create person for his partner. You can write letter as Leander the mage's apprentice to your old childhood friend. Or to apprentice of your master's friend.

So if I understand this right, we just write a letter introducing our character, with no reference to our partner's potential character? And then they can make up their own character in this world and introduce themselves back? Sorry if I'm being dense, I just want to make sure I don't write the wrong kind of letter!

It was exactly what I was thinking about.

I love the idea of this swap. I´m completly amazed. (Although 3 partners are really a lot...)

Thank you! I think that this is going to be fun!

But you can write one letter and send it to tree people, if writing 3 different letters is too much for you :)

cathepsut 04/ 2/2011 #

Would it be ok to type and print the letter on a computer or should it be written by hand? What length did you have in mind for the letter? Great idea btw!

Aleksis 04/ 3/2011 #

@cathepsut I would accept typped letter, too, though I think handwritten letter is more suitable. Lenght? Well, I think 2 pages minimum, but it shouldn't be a problem. For me it will probably be longer... And don't forget about the map ! :D

I hope you do this swap again!!!

The deadline is coming O_o hurry up

Inox 04/ 4/2011 #

Sorry, I don't think I'll be able to do this one. The idea really is amazing, but I've got some crazy writer's block right now. Since I'm still new, I need to take things slow and not commit to anything I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to send out my best work for. Sorry again!

Marking as "Sent" - my letters will be in the mail first thing tomorrow morning!

This was an absolutely brilliant idea for a swap and did wonders to cure the general rut my writing has been in.
