Description:

I love tea swaps, but I feel as though I should make a swap that revolves around refinement! So, let's enjoy a bit of tea and a quick letter from your partner. Your letter doesn't have to be too long - a minimum of a page handwritten should do. Write about yourself, and some of your fancier qualities (this is a fancy swap, after all). Have fun with it! Maybe try explaining your perfect "fancy" day. Is it curling up by a window drinking tea? Is it staying in a beautiful hotel, getting pampered in a spa while drinking tea? Taking tea in a secret garden, surrounded by roses and songbirds? I'm sure you get the picture. Be as creative and descriptive as possible. I know you won't have any trouble breaking the one-page minimum!

This swap shall have two partners per person. Your letters do not have to be identical, and as I want to encourage time well-spent on each partner, I am giving a generous amount of time for this swap to be finished.

If you have any dislikes or particular preferences, post them below.

Now the fine print:

  • Unless you have really good-quality teas in your stash, go out to a coffee shop and purchase nice ones. They shouldn't be too expensive. Try getting stuff out of the ordinary. Do not sent all from the same brand. Three tea bags (or equivalent in loose tea) is the minimum to be sent for this swap. Read your partners' profiles. Get a feel for what they like.

Yes, this is newbie-friendly. It's relatively low-risk and involves minimal postage. Everyone needs to start somewhere! Yes, this is Australian-friendly. Please note that when sending tea to Australia, loose-leaf is not advisable as it will be confiscated for quarantine. "Tea containing seeds, fruit skin (for example citrus and apple peel) and fruit pieces" is not allowed. However, I'm sure there ought not be a problem when sending black or green teas - just make sure they have no visible chunks of anything in them.

This sounds like lots of fun. I'm in!

rachrnm 04/ 9/2011 #

@crafts4me welcome! :)

I'd just like to point out that I do not mind loose tea. My only tea no-no is chai. Thanks, dear partner!

Hostess's Note: I will be an angel for this swap. I am not expecting flakers but just so everyone knows: if there is a flaker, they will not be permitted to join any future swaps I host. Along with checking ratings, I believe this is a sound policy to try and keep my swaps as reliable as possible.

Much love and happy swapping!

I think that this is an awesome swap.

I am still debating.

If I can send loose tea I have no problem joining.

I have two very fine loose teas and some pretty fine bags.

International makes it very hard to decide. Mainly because the PO around here is looking for any way to add postage to any letter they can.

I had a letter with a package of four tea bags, and the PO wanted to make it parcel not first class, because the four bags were still sealed in a package and were about 1/4 inch thick.

@fawnscrafts thanks! :) I haven't seen anyone post here that they don't want loose tea, so I don't think you'll have much of a problem.

I have found that I can send tea and letters overseas without even filling out a declaration form - maybe I'm just blessed. But yeah - don't let them bully you. I had that problem with one lady at my PO... but then I bullied her back (which felt so wrong), and she let me have my way.

I'm glad you decided to join. :)

As hostess of this swap, I command everyone to enjoy themselves and drink lots of nice tea!

Jessie! I should have let you know... silly me! I'll be hosting another one and I heartily invite all participants of the original to join in the fun for a round two of some yummy tea and good reading. :)
