Description:

Welcome to my first writing challenge!

This swap is inspired from an old writing exercise I used to do with my creative writing group. One person would start the session by writing a line of poetry (original or from another poem they'd been inspired by) and passing it around to the group. Then, without talking, everyone would sit and write for however long it took us depending on the day, then we'd discuss.

For this swap, I shall wait until after the signup date has passed and, once having assigned partners, I will proceed to PM each individual with their line. Everyone will get a unique line/line fragment and will have to incorporate it somewhere in their poem. It must be used as written and together, not broken up. The only exception is to change verb tense if needed or to change "his, her, mine, etc" to suit the theme. The challenge of this is to make a line work. No, you can't ask for another line.

There is no excuse for flaking in a swap like this, especially with nearly three weeks to create your poem. If there is a flaker, I will angel, but be aware that I will never let said flaker join any of my swaps again.

Poems can be any length and of any style. As long as you get a poem from your partner and your partner has somehow pointed out the original line prompt, please rate a 5. That is the expectation of the swap - the point is to create. As always, hearts are at the discretion of the recipient. Feel free to write different poems to each of your partners if you want!

In case anyone is wondering how the line selection works - to make it random even for me, I am writing down the lines and the names of the participants and separating the two into different piles. I will then draw from each and let everyone know which line/line fragment they got.

Have fun, everyone.

Also:

I encourage everyone who wants to to put up their poem in the gallery slideshow! That way we can read each other's poems. :)

I love the idea! I'm a poet and I love the creative flow of this. :-D

am new to swap-bot. how would one go about putting something in the gallery slideshow? ( love, love, love this bot, btw....can't wait for my line).

@jenotype excellent question! Well, I have no idea how to put something in the slideshow! I think I was confusing the "tag your images on flickr" with somehow making them go in the slideshow...

Anyway, my previous comment is now redundant. I think that if we want to share our poems, we ought to just upload them to flickr, or - and I think this is the more likely of the options - simply post them here, in the comments, once we're sure our partners have received and read first.

Looking forward to this! I have done ones where host will give you certain words you have to use. All are fun.
