In honor of the royal wedding, let's have a "crown jewels" matchbox swap! Decorate a 32-count matchbox for this one, with some queenly sparkle to it. Inside, create (or buy, if you absolutely don't make jewelry well at all) one sparkly piece of costume jewelry (set of earrings counts as one piece, of course!). No used jewelry for this swap, although you may use vintage components, if you are crafting your piece, such as charms or pendants. Ear wires/hoops, though, must be brand-new! Make this matchbox shiny and glittery with plenty of bling so your partner can feel like a princess for a day. You do not have to reference royalty or the wedding in the matchbox (though you can if you like that sort of thing) or jewelry, just make it look glamorous! And make sure the jewelry is something pretty that you'd like to receive, though it need not be expensive. If you cannot make them, Claire's has very cute and blingy earrings and bracelets and such for under $5. You may want to pass on this swap if you are allergic to base metal in jewelry, as we are not swapping real gold and silver here. Totally sender's choice. Please no drama! I don't want to hear about anyone rating a three because they don't like rubies or wanted real platinum. And if you flake, I will petition for you to be removed from this group. Package your matchbox well! You may decorate the inside as well (optional), or just line it with tissue or cotton to keep the jewelry nice. Nothing else has to go in the matchbox except the jewelry. If your jewelry turns out too big to fit in the matchbox, wrap it separately and send them together. Happy royal wedding day to you! Questions? |
