Description:

Don't you just love home-made ornaments on your tree. In this swap you will show off your talents by creating an ornament for your partner's Christmas tree. You can crochet or knit, use your vinyl with your cricut, straw/rafia, clay, ribbon, natural stuff, beads, plastic canvas, felt or fabric- anything crafty. Be creative. There is no way to assign value for your ornament but your investment in the project should be under $5 before shipping. This will be swapper's choice. I hope that folks enjoy this and we'll be able to continue it.

Please specify below if there is anything specific your partner needs to know like size or color.

Newbies who have a complete profile may sign up but no unexplained 3 or 1's need join. It may be winter but we don't want any flakers.

auntmaymay1221 05/19/2011 #

I live pretty much in an RV and use a tiny tree-could I request mini ornaments?

SharinmyStitches 05/19/2011 #

Sure to both of you!! Anything would be fine.

squintgrad 05/22/2011 #

yes, handmade ornaments are the best! Thanks for creating this swap.

samjowers 05/25/2011 #

Love handmade! Only thing on my tree!

sandypoe 05/28/2011 #

Can it just be 2 or 3 small simple paper ornaments?

PinkLotus 05/29/2011 #

FYI - you have a known flaker in this swap.. @tazwoman - she has 3 3's and 3 1's and none of her flaked on partners have received ANYTHING from her. She didn't even address the 1's (where she flaked on children) until she was hounded into it. She attemped to join many swaps and was dropped from nearly all of them before she even addressed her 1's. You as participants have the right to know and decide whether you want to swap with this flaker or not.

@sandypoe what do you mean by simple paper ornaments? I know that paper can be a great ornament medium but if you are talking about sending paper snowflakes and some one else has spent hours on a beaded 3d object...Not sure if the exchange would be a fair one. I know that with the time I put into what I do, I would love to get something of quality in return. i use paper in a lot of what I do, but it is sturdy and holds up to the presures of time. paper mache is an example and also cardboard that is covered in beautiful fabrics and papers...:)

SharinmyStitches 05/30/2011 #

@sandypoe I would hope that anything that you create would be a unique and quality item. You may send as many ornaments as you would like. I'm hoping that your connotation for the word "simple", was different than the normal dictionary meaning. PM me if you are unsure.

samjowers 05/30/2011 #

i was inspired by @sandypoe and looked up paper ornaments. there were some really cute ones. Including this cute fan! I know this swap is supposed to cost under $5 dollars.

sandypoe 05/31/2011 #

My simple is lots of cutting ,easy to put together. . quote:..Not sure if the exchange would be a fair one. I know that with the time I put into what I do, I would love to get something of quality in return. "Is this not a swap ",some crafters are better then others but their work is still something of quality to them. If it is not up to your standards will you return it to them? I feel your comment is a little unfair we all do try.

samjowers 06/ 1/2011 #

I wasn't trying to be unfair and i wasnt trying to offend. It was unclear what you meant when you said simple paper ornament. I was only trying to help and as a teacher, it was my first impulse to reach out and help. I wasn't judging your abilities as I know nothing about what you can or can not do. I also know that every year around Christmas we get a lot of flakers on swap bot who try to pass off pieces of string and poorly cut paper and say they are an ornament when they are recieving objects that took a lot of time to do in return. I was never implying that you are one. You did however, ask the question and I felt like giving you an answer for it. No offense intended and non taken on my part. i am sure that what ever you send will be wonderful! :D

JaMaJo 06/ 3/2011 #

I would love to join this one but I need more time to get the sewing that needs to be done with the ornament I have in mind. Plus, my summer is pretty busy. I hope you host another one of these in the fall when I will have more time and it's closer to the Christmas season. :)

craftymom2 06/ 4/2011 #

wish you wouldve said people needed their profile filled out. :-(

SharinmyStitches 06/ 5/2011 #

Oh- I'm sorry. I didn't even look at that. I was so concerned over flakers. First swap- Live and learn. :)

craftymom2 06/ 6/2011 #

it is just my partner has nothing on hers and i like to make stuff a little special and know a little something about you, but I will deal with what I have. great swap though!!! :-)

katiesarahsmom 06/ 9/2011 #

Sorry! I am new to this. If I have done it correct, my profile is now filled out. Please let me know if I need to do anything else.:)
