Description:

And...we're here! This is the last swap in the ROYGBV series. You know the drill: for this swap you should find 2 postcards that have red as a dominant color in them. If it's something like a photo with some red, some other colors, it's OK if red isn't more than half of the area. But it's important that the card contain the color red in some striking way.

I'm sayin' we can be flexible and go with any shade of red: poppy, scarlet, crimson, lipstick, fire engine, burgundy even. No pink, though: unless Krista wires me some serious dinero, pink is going to be the next in this series. =grin=

Handmade or commercial--either way. No tourist cards, though--unless they're ancient & not your usual postcard!

You will mail 1 red postcard, naked & written on, to each of 2 partners.

Say, can anyone explain to me the difference between scarlet & crimson?

Pirates wear crimson. Their wenches wear scarlet. Just a guess.

Lol!

Would y'all consider pink or hot pink as red? Or would that be a separate swap? A sunset postcard is not red though it's got lots of pink so I'm leaning to pink is not red.

crimson |ˈkrimzən| adjective | of a rich deep red color inclining to purple : she blushed crimson with embarrassment.

scarlet |ˈskärlit| adjective | of a brilliant red color : a mass of scarlet berries.

Answer: Crimson has a touch of blue; scarlet does not.

@manders2280 -- thanks for the crimson/scarlet clarification; as for your question about pink, the answer is in the 2nd paragraph of the swap writeup. =smile=

I know scarlet is bright red, but it's never felt like bright red to me. I never use the word. Crimson, however, I'm more than familiar with because it's the starring red in any packet of Derwent pencils. (Yes, it's bluer.)

Dropped the swap 'cause life took over :( Have fun everyone!

What if I sent a blue postcard, but my partners just pretend it's red to humor me? Would that be alright? Or what if I sent a green postcard, isn't it the opposite of red on the color wheel or something ...
