Hello. My name is Moira and I am a retired para-legal in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am the full-time carer to my six-year old grandson so, as you can imagine, I am kept pretty busy.
Johnrobert has just changed schools so it has been quite a busy time getting him settled in. However I do have some me time and spend a lot of it on my laptop - too much in fact which is why I am thrilled to have found swap-bot.
I have a 37-year old daughter who lives close by but is unable care for him for various reasons.
I am married to a Canadian and consequently spent quite a few years in Vancouver,BC. When I got too homesick, he came back with me and now lives and works here in Edinburgh.
I am a Red Hatter (check out our website) and love it.
I am looking forward to doing swaps - they look really good fun - and making lots of new friends.
I love being back in my beloved Edinburgh and would love to do swaps which involve sending Scottish stuff to international swappers.
I used to walk a lot but since being diagnosed as diabetic I can't do that so much anymore. I can however still shop and that's what counts!
I love Take That, U2 and old country. Patsy Cline is fabulous and when, I'm in the mood, Leonard Cohen.
Other than that, oldies from the 50s and 60s are what I love to listen to most.
Of course, Elvis is the King.
I have not done serious crafts for a while but I used to knit Icelandic Sweaters and Aran Knits.
I made a huge doll's house from plastic canvas when I was in Canada but could not bring it with me - too big.
I like embroidery and cross-stitch.
Never learned crochet.
I have tried card making and quite liked that.
I am interested in trying Dottee Dolls and making things with buttons.
I am keen to knit again during the winter.
My most favourite movie is Dr Zhivago.
Feel good endings like Dirty Dancing and an Officer and a Gentleman are what I love best.
I also like a good murder mystery but hate anything that contains unnecessary or excessive violence.
I also hate Science Fiction - mainly because I don't usually understand it. The exceptions to this are ET and Close Encounters.
The old Hollywood musicals are great and along with a chocolate bar are a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
I like nature documentaries, especially if they are about big cats - lions are my favourite.
CSI, Crime and Investigation Network, Law and Order of course, UK soaps, some sitcoms and X-Factor.
I don't like Big Brother (boring), quiz shows or silly comedy like Little Britain.
My family, my friends, my laptop, pandas, animals, chocolate, champagne, coffee, pasta, Spain and anything Spanish, Russian Dolls, The Red Hat Society, meeting people, learning new things, surprises, flowers, plants, Scotland, the seaside, animals, snuggled up in my home when it's raining outside, being the first person to walk in fresh snow, the smell or freshly mown grass, my car, halloween, travel.
My time in Canada made me a huge baseball fan, especially the Yankees.
Marzipan, cherries, tea, rude people, insects of any kind, spiders (ugh), dirt and clutter but also housework (!), fancy frilly clothes, having nothing to do, airports, the dentist.
My favourite colour is red.
I also like purple, burgundy and peacock blue.
I really like all colours but can live without green.
I don't mind bland like fawn and beige but prefer brighter,
I like anything metallic or shiny.
Johnrobert is six years old and heavily into super heroes, especially Transformers and Spiderman. He also likes Batman.
He loves his DS and PS2 but also likes to draw, paint and colour pictures.
He adores dinosaurs and knows all about them, what they ate and where they lived.
He likes comics and sticker books and collects Gogos.
He plays out on his bike as much as he is allowed.
He is a yellow belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Thai Kick Boxing and trains twice a week. We go ice skating in the winter and he is starting to show an interest in golf.
Unlike most little boys in Scotland, he has very little interest in football.
He loves Macdonalds and all the little Happy Meal toys.
Anything to do with pandas, Postcards, Spain or anything Spanish, Buttons - unusual coloured ones, Native North American culture, Historical information and photos, Unusual keyrings, Bling things, Elvis, Red and Purple stuff, Unusual Pens or Pencils, Beads, Enamelled embellisments, Something for Johnrobert, Dotee Dolls, Button Angels, Fabric, Russian Dolls I would really be pleased with anything
