~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NOTE: If you haven't received a swap from me, or if I somehow misunderstood and did not abide by the requirements of the swap, please contact me before leaving poor feedback. I'm very conscientious about swaps, sending immediately and trying to send things I hope will please others. Any mistake is unintentional; any unreceived swap is likely a post office error. So please get in touch! Thank you!** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello! I'm married with three school-aged children ... self-employed and working from home. A former resident of Philadelphia, South Jersey and the West Coast of Florida, I now live in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.
Although I'm a graduate of the University of South Florida with a bachelor's in accounting, I'm also a lover and student of the written word.
I love a well-turned phrase, colorful flowers, mountains, snow, cool air, the feel of a plane taking off, the sound of the German language, paper - all colors, textures, bindings, office supply store "stuff," maps, listening to audiobooks, making my family laugh, visiting new places, purses and bags (I can't believe I'm a bag lady!), exploring galleries and shops, learning new things, hugs from my children, collecting postcards, a Starbucks Frappuchino (skinny caramel, please!), Philly pretzels and buttercake ... and reminiscing.
I wish I could be a full-time student, travel the world, find enough time to do everything I wanted, and that I could live up to my own high expectations.
Postcards I like:
Maps, universities, busy city street scenes, and colorful cards showing people/places/things that uniquely represent your area!
Hall & Oates, James Taylor, Carole King, Casting Crowns, 70s stuff
Awakenings, Back to the Future, Peggy Sue Got Married, Twister
Although we don't have cable, we watch lots of TV on DVD or through Netflix:
Numb3rs Bones Law & Order Criminal Minds Leverage Lie to Me Star Trek Flashforward Lost V
A few of my all-time favorites include The Doomsday Book, Mars, and the Rama series. I love hard sci-fi and time travel!
My newest addiction is listening to audiobooks! At this writing, I'm listening to Shantaram, a wonderful look inside India. A few of my other favorite "listens" have included The Help and The Shack.
I've been collecting postcards on and off since my teen years. Unfortunately, each time I "stopped" the hobby, I foolishly sold my collection! That will not happen again; now that I recognize that life sometimes becomes too busy for cards but that I always return to them, as one might a true love, now, I simply set them aside until it is time again to renew my affair :)
While I love many card themes, I particularly collect map cards, cards showing universities (not sports-related), cards showing busy city street scenes, cards showing airplanes/airports, cards showing unique and/or contemporary architecture (art galleries, museums, churches, cathedrals, etc.), and colorful cards showing people/places/things that uniquely represent your area. I like art and advertising cards only if the images represent local artists from your area.
Please, no nudity or things that would be inappropriate for children's eyes. Also, I would like to request that you not send cards printed by Pomegranate unless you think it's really special and/or matches the swap perfectly. It's a letdown to get an envelope full of cards to find out that they're all from Pomegranate.
Thank you! :)
