PLEASE NOTE: Once I finish the current swaps I am in, I will be taking a hiatus.
My name is Cassie. I'm 22 years old and I live in a little tiny town in Western New York. I just graduated this past May with a Bachelor's degree in English and Writing.
I currently work at a school as a secretary, but my ultimate goal is to find work as a freelance editor, doing copyediting and proofreading.
One of the most exciting things about my life at the moment is that I'm getting married in July!
I love, love, love to read. Books have been my constant companions, even before I learned how to read them. I read everything: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, memoir, biography... I do admit, however, that I usually can't stomach romance novels. I love to write as well. I keep a journal, I write poetry and sometimes fiction, and I'm particularly passionate about letter-writing and sending and receiving fun things through the mail. I'm obssessed with cats. I'm pretty musical... I'm a semi-trained vocalist, and I love singing with choirs and small groups. I play the piano and the flute, and like listening to almost every genre of music (except rap, some r&b, and metal). I'm also into cooking. I love baking things - particularly sweet things, but I really enjoy making breads as well.
*Anything by L.M. Montgomery, especially the Anne and the Emily series.
*A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - Betty Smith
*A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett
*Born Confused - Tanuja Desai Hidier
*Books about books! Also books about documents, history, literary mysteries... such as "The Historian" and "People of the Book."
*Poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke, Pablo Neruda, Luci Shaw, Susanna Childress, Jane Kenyon, Billy Collins.
I'm pretty open-minded. I can handle country, but not much of the current stuff. Oddly enough, if I listen to country music it's the old stuff... I love Roger Miller and Patsy Cline. As before mentioned, no metal or rap.
I like: The Beatles, U2, Five Iron Frenzy, Steven Curtis Chapman, Relient K, Carly Simon, Switchfoot, Aerosmith, Nichole Nordeman, Gaelic Storm, Jack Johnson, Imogen Heap, Ingrid Michaelson, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Plumb, CCR, Frank Sinatra, Josh Groban, Foo Fighters, Norah Jones, John Mayer, The Fratellis, Franz Ferdinand, Debussy, Stevie Wonder, KT Tunstall, Jars of Clay, Elton John, Anuna, Simon & Garfunkel, Yo-Yo Ma, Snow Patrol, Billy Joel, Heart, Audio Adrenaline, Green Day, Maroon 5, Alanis Morissette, Judy Garland, Coldplay, Jonny Lang, Mika, Matchbox Twenty, Sarah McLachlan, Incubus, Nickel Creek, Nirvana, Jewel, Queen, Carla Bruni, Joshua Bell, Sheryl Crow, No Doubt, Everclear, The Cranberries, Hanson, Jennifer Knapp, Eric Whitacre, Wings...
I LOVE mail. I love to send things, and I love to receive things...
Postcards, journals, letters, packages, poetry.
A warning to one and all: sadly, I am not very artistic. I am much more a words sort of person. Please please please don't be disappointed if my artistic abilities don't meet your expectations... I do promise you that I will try.
I do, however, crochet relatively decently...
I like: Journals, diaries. Empty notebooks. College-ruled paper. Fountain pens. Bottles of ink. Stationery. Cats. Napping. Sweet things. The search for new recipes. Letters, postcards, packages, ephemera, anything to do with writing. Decorative paper with text on it. Flowers. Leaves. Buttons. Colored pens. Hand lotion. Shampoo/Conditioner/Body wash samples. Hugging and kissing. Music - singing in choirs. Pretty yarn, crochet hooks.
I don't like: puzzles (sudoku, crosswords, etc.), comics, dogs, dark chocolate, hard candy... there aren't many things I don't like, really.
Things I would enjoy very much:
Stationery, wedding decorating ideas, blank journals and notebooks, yarn, easy to intermediate crochet patterns, new recipes, pretty buttons, blank art postcards (Waterhouse, Monet, Degas, etc.), colored pens, classic books, book/poetry/music suggestions.
