I knit obsessively. For the most part socks, although I also have a penchant for anything lace. I am also definitely a fiber snob--I rarely use anything but wool, though I have vast quantities of acrylic in my stash. Go figure. I have recently added handspinning to the list of crafts I like, and so have been eating up spinning books. I love to read, and don't learn well from anything else. This, combined with my penchant for trying anything crafty at least once, means that I read a lot of non-fiction. But don't think I only read how-tos--I devour nearly any kind of book! I draw the line at horror and most superstition, and I find vast tracts of modern fiction unspeakably boring, but apart from that, anything's fair game. I love popular science books, in particular, and I will try any new history book I come across. My favorite fiction genre is British mystery, from the late 19th century to about 1980, and my comfort reading is science fiction/fantasy--Isaac Asimov being an example of the first sort, and Ray Bradbury for the most part in the second group.
Apart from knitting socks and reading, I love color and music in copious quantities. I wear the oddest combinations of colors--at least, so my family swears. My favorite color is bright--just kidding, it's green, followed closely by yellow, red, brown, and grey. I quite like blue and purple as well, but I'll wear nearly any color before them most of the time. I also love orange, but my skin tone has a blue-as-blue-can-be undertone, so I look AWFUL in it. Fortunately, my mom both loves orange and can wear it with impunity, so I can work with any color that I like and have someone it will still appeal to. I also have to have my yellows very buttery--any orange at all makes me look ghastly. I am learning to play violin, and like any music that can be called 'classical'--as a matter of fact, if it has orchestral strings in it, I am pretty much happy. grin Apart from 'orchestral', I love hymns, and large swathes of contemporary Christian, though there is also a part of my heart that will always belong to the Eagles and similar classic rock.
My two cats pester me nearly constantly for food and attention (but I love them anyway), and I waste far too much time on the internet, where I can normally be found on Plurk, a mini-blogging/social networking site more or less like Twitter (except better in every way)--I linked to my profile as my website'.
