I am 54 yo but much younger at heart (when I am feeling well. I suffer from chronic nerve pain which some days it's hard for me to even get out of bed :(. I am a nurse by profession, 21 yrs now (WOW how time flies... ;) I have been married for 38 yrs and yes, if you did the math right, we got married when we were both 16 yo. Truth be known... I've had eyes for my husband since I was 5 yo sitting in Sunday School (LOL). I have 4 wonderful grown kids (3 biologically mine and a WONDERFUL daughter-in-law), 9 beautiful grand kids that keep me happily busy. I have recently lost my canine companion of 16 years, a Maltese named Jasmin. Hoping to one day soon connect with another puppy when I'm ready to open my heart again.
I live in a state that has cool to cold weather 9 months out of the year (seriously it is not unheard of for us to get snow in June... you can Google "Missoula Montana snow storm June 4" if you'd like to read a little about one of our more historic storms )...
I'm looking forward to some good swaps to cheer my day/week/month whichever the case may be. Also, excited to do the same for someone else!!
Slow, soul felt like Ed Sheeran, Adel, Enya... Folk or Bluegrass Music also pulls at my heart. I was "born and raised" on gospel music/songs but I seem to be going through a really rough spiritual questioning time in my life right now so not much of that type lately... I have played the violin since I was in 3rd grade (only beginner -intermediate level now though, I don't play as often as I should to keep my skills up because of the nerve pain) and I grew up around the Appalachian Mountains so you could say this type of music is "in my blood". Soft instrumental compositions with the harp, piano, guitar, or orchestra instruments are my most favorite though.
Not much of a "reader" but when I do find myself with the time to sit down with a good book I like authors like Jane Austen, anything romantic (not romance novel type though). Also like documentaries, non-fiction mostly but will read some fiction if I "get into" the book(s) like the "Mockingjay", "Divergent" or other simular type series...
Follows the Book theme...also, late 18th to mid 19th century, movies based on real facts...documentaries... A good romance movie is nice too.
I don't really watch TV shows per say... if my TV is on it is mostly for filler noise to keep me company while cleaning up or doing crafts. There were a quite a few series on PBS that I enjoyed watching...Downton Abbey is one (REALLY sad when that was canceled) Monarch of the Glen, Doc Martin or another on ABC (I think) titled Once Upond a Time. Mini series are fun to watch also like "Lost in Austen" and "Tin Man" to name a couple.
ALMOST ANYTHING!! I love most of them all. Especially the "Shabby Chic or Vintage" type ones. I LOVE to bake!, for family and friends mostly. I like to make cake pops, cookies, and cupcakes. I have recently started to do cards, junk journals and pocket letters but I'd say I am in the "learning phase" here. Also, love anything artsy based items that have a quality/real feeling like flowers, butterflies, and nature.
DON'T LIKE: Please do not send items that are whimsy, cartoon, kidie like...or anything ghoulish, creepy, or "dark"... not into those styles/theme at all...
To have fun, venture out into new waters, make new friends, & hopefully bring happiness and a smile to someone else at some point.
1) History... growing up in Virginia in Thomas Jefferson's home town of Charlottesville... having places like Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown or Washington DC just down the road... one can't help but love history, or at least respect it.
2) Fiction Stories or Science Fictional characters as long as there is little to NO blood.... I see enough of that at work thank you. ;)
3) To try something new at least once... how do I know whether or not I'm going to like it if I don't give it a chance first?
4) WARM WEATHER AND SUNSHINE!!!! People ask me all the time why I live in the state of Montana if I don't like the cold /snow. I tell them we moved here for "hunting and fishing purposes" and definitely not for me! LOL . I'd love to live in Arizona or Hawaii if I had to choose.
5) My family! My husband, kids and grand kids.... they're what help me get out of bed everyday!
Colors: I really like them all. The only thing I DON'T like is when colors clash... they have to at least complement. Gold and silver are GREAT, I love anything that sparkles.. the more "Bling" the better!
Foods: I like to try new items I haven't had a chance to try yet, except outrageous things like brains or pigs feet... I draw the line there! ;) I am not much on spicy foods either, a ltitle spice for flavor is OK. I LOVE breads and cheeses, especially with a good wine.
Drinks: I LOVE coffees, teas, chocolate drinks. Have really started to like "sipping chocolate " ... very decadent to say the least. ;) Wine every once in a while.
Style: Interior design is mostly traditional with a HINT of Shabby Chic or Vintage... Personal attire I like to stay as modern as my age allows, nothing over the top but I do like to follow the trends along with a few traditional/ staple items added.
