My name is Megan and I live in Missouri with my boyfriend and my six year old daughter Sophia. I am a full time graphic designer. I just bought a home this past year and have been enjoying decorating it with mid-century modern furniture mixed with organic elements (kinda like Amy Butler's home). I am very eco-conscious and am dedicated to being a 'green' influence on my daughter. I am absolutely addicted to antique malls, ebay, garage sales, and thrift stores. I just LOVE the thrill of the hunt. Sophie and I do a lot of craft projects together and when the weather is nice we spend lots of time outdoors. Sophia attends a french-immersion elementary schooI and she is learning how to speak French. In turn, I am learning also. I enjoy good graphic design, pattern design, typography/hand lettering, letterpress, home decor, arts & crafts (no country crafts), gardening, composting/recycling, cooking, unique magazines, graffiti, fashion and shopping. I am also interested in different cultures and people of the world. I tend to be most 'in tune' with Buddhist ideals but I wouldn't consider myself to be religious. Spiritual- not religious. Frida Kahlo is my idol. I have decorated and dedicated a room to her in my house. I like to have a open-mind and I am willing to try and experience new things. I am considerate, compassionate, honest, and creative.
I like to felt, knit and sew. I have been in a few craft shows showcasing my felt jewelry and scarves. I am currently seeking inspiration for a new project and/or craft.
My absolute favorite show is Project Runway. I also watch Design Star, HGTV, Make me a Super Model, Intervention and Rob & Big.
I spend more time reading magazines than I do books. Some of my favorite mags are ReadyMade, Blueprint, Domino, Martha Stewart's FOOD, Body & Soul, Communication Arts, Print- any design and fashion magazine that is unique. At work, I have access to European magazines. I love the European style! As far as books go, I like to look at design books. Amy Butler's Midwest Modern is one of my fav's now. The most recent books I have read are The Kite Runner and A Million Little Pieces. My favorite author is Paulo Coelho.
TOP TEN: Magnolia, Shawshank Redemption, The Color Purple, American History X, Pulp Fiction, Farenheit 911, Gladiator, 40 Year-Old Virgin, Xanadu, Goonies.
In my 33 years I have seemed to enjoy collecting things. With my love of antique stores, garage sales and thrift stores I have embarked on some interesting collections. Some of them include; Original artwork, Owls, Mid-Century Modern items, Frida Kahlo items, Western Indian decor, Russell Wright Pottery, tea towels, and organic pods, acorns, pine cones, deer antlers, seeds, etc...
flavored coffee, country crafts, girlie stuff, bible thumpers, flowery scents, berry teas, alcohol/drugs, George Bush, gas guzzling SUV's, war, non-recyclers

Due to the fact that you haven't been active here on Swap-bot for a couple of months, I will remove you from the Viva la Frida group. You are always welcome again :-)
I love those Domino magazines and get my best crafty ideas in there, so many color patterns! I'm glad it got there safely!
