I love hats too the bowler type as well . My last bowler got destroyed when the wind was high and this elderly lady backed up in her cadillac and ran over my bowler completely destroying it . I miss my bowler so much so i get your fascination with hats I love them too .
You can push back on the fussy mail clerk. There is a contact page on the USPS site and Iβve had success placing very polite complaints when the clerks have unfairly charged me postage due. Bring a tape measure to the post office too and be armed with official regulations about thickness.
