I am noob to swap-bot, just joined Nov 19 '08, but I'm not new to online swapping. I've belonged to several forums over many years and I have always enjoyed participating in swaps. I love putting together surprises for people, online or IRL, and will use any reason I can find to do it, often in a "secret santa" way. Just knowing that I may have brightened someone's day fulfills some inner part of me. And of course I love getting mail & surprises myself! So when I discovered Swap-bot I was more than a little excited.
Now that I've hopefully explained my newbie status- I guess I should tell you a bit more about myself.
I am a SAHM to 3 wonderfully active boys- ages 11 1/2, 8 & 5 and a wife of 3 years to my high school sweetheart. Oh- and we just adopted a 2 year old dog named Bell. She's a Corgi, Husky, Collie mix and we love her.
I like to read, cook, bake, try new recipes, and write- both poetry & simply writing. I enjoy making special shaped cakes and really kewl cupcakes. I love hot chocolate and I don't drink coffee.
I am not really a religious person and do not like people preaching to me. That does not mean I don't support my friends who are more "churchy", I just think everyone has the right to believe in what they want without someone trying to change their mind. I am still finding out what my personal beliefs are and I am noticing they tend to be more spiritual & natural. With that said- I would love to know more about the "alternative" religions, others besides Catholic & Christian.
Words that define me: Homemaker, Happy, Optomistic, Easy-going, Friendly, Open-minded, Caring, Frugal, Honest, Curious, Natural, "Fluttery", Crafty, "Crunchy"
My favorite words or sayings:
Live, Laugh, Love!
Smile!
Faith
Hope
Believe
Dream
My music tastes cover a wide range of genres. I like just about everything- Country, Rock-n-roll, Hip-hop, Alternative, Oldies and more. I don't really get into heavy metal, "gangsta" rap, gospel or classical music though.
Some artists off the top of my head I listen to: Destiny's Child, Sean Paul, Shakira, Toby Keith, Nickleback, BEP, Alicia Keys, Trace Adkins, Pink, Staind, No Doubt, Live, Kenny Chesney, Katy Perry, Evanescence, Chris Daughtry, Buckcherry
I don't think I've found a book I haven't liked! But my first choice is a good historical romance.
POTC is my all-time fav! I love Captain Jack Sparrow & Will Turner! Anything that isn't really stupid or gory I'll watch. I prefer "spooky-scary" movies like Poltergeist, but the Ring for some reason scared the crap out of me & I refuse to have it in my house ever again. I love movies with Julia Roberts, Will Smith & Adam Sandler- I don't think any of them have made a bad movie yet! Oh and anything with Vin Diesel- even if the movie bites he's awesome to watch! LOL Oh- and I also love to watch Shirley Temple movies & old musicals. I would love to find movies I watched as a kid- like the original Grease and more that elude me right now.
HOUSE!!! My all-time, will-not-miss show. After that is Bones, Prison Break, Survivor, Amazing Race and Charmed.
Right now my favorite crafts are quick & easy ones that I can squeeze in between the demands of my family. (Felt & glue has become a close friend! LOL)
My crafting experience is small & sporadic. I used to know how to crochet a teeny bit and would love to learn again so I can make afghans. I like to sew, but that don't mean I'm real good at it! ;o) I've gotten hooked on Iris Folding & love making cards with it.
I'm interested in learning just about any type of craft- I love to try new things. I have done needlepoint (simple ones) and enjoy it. My big current project is I'm starting a rag jean quilt. I also want to try my hand at digital scrapbooking when I find the time.
Things I like (subject to get very long as I add things as I think of them!):
Fairies
Butterflies
Dolphins
Dragons & Fantasy/Mythical Stuff
Pirates
Vanilla & Coconut Scents
Fruity or Food Scents
Craft Kits
Body Spray
Essential Oils- Especially Young Living
Homeopathic & Natural Items
Melaleuca Products
Stickers
Anything Homemade (skill doesn't matter!)
Silver or Beaded Jewelry
Purple anything!
I always choose silver over gold
Lipstick & Chapstick
Mint, chocolate, peanut butter- Yum! (Though all 3 together might not be so good! LOL)
Handmade anything (skill level doesn't matter!)
80's Blast from the Past stuff- Fraggle Rock, Smurf's, Rainbow Brite, Garbage Pail Kids & more
Things I don't like:
Gory Stuff
Power Rangers, Barney & Spongebob
Coffee
While I am a very easy to please person and will love anything I receive in a swap, there are a few things that I request you do not send me because they will make me sick:
Perfumes
Floral Scents & other really strong smells
Stuff that smells of smoke
Let me first say that anything on this entire page I like or am looking for (whether it be for me or my family) doesn't have to be new. I'm a big second-hand shopper and consider it smart shopping. So I'm perfectly fine with gently worn items, as long as it's not "used up."
Things I'd Like:
Small & tiny stuff- examples: barbie shoes & accessories, lego men pieces, game pieces, letter & number beads, shaped buttons & erasers, parts (like tires, wheels, etc) from small cars,
Scrabble Tiles
7x7 Jean Squares (cool details/pockets would be awesome!)
Things for My Boys:
They're typical boys- ages 12, 8 1/2 & 5. They love little things like plastic dinosaurs, lego men, tempoarary tattoos, stickers.
